It works for him that he is not the GP ideal for a pop star, I guess it makes him unique. He is also very talented and if he didn't have those performance skills, he wouldn't be as successful. The fact that there was no choice for him to get a deal than producing his own music bc they wouldn't hire writers for him was a blessing in disguise.
