I don't understand this notion that he's a good guy(even if GRRM called him "righteous"). He's basically shown himself to be Melisandre's bitch and susceptible to being manipulated based on religion. A Westerosi version of a Republican. Why anyone would even root for him is beyond me.

It's not him being good, dude is a ****ing asshole but he loved his daughter and has always done everything to protect her from greyscale to her mama. Exactly. Stannis literally rejected Mel a couple of episodes ago saying "she's my daughter. I won't allow it." He's supposed to be rigid as ****, so for him to change his mind seemingly on a dime regarding a life/death situation for his ONLY HEIR AND DAUGHTER is nonsensical. Shireen was snubbed and I'm still feeling disturbed.

Let's see if critics drag this episode the same way they dragged the episode of Sansa's rape.

u all seem to forget that in the meantime weeks and months have passed where Stannis wasn't going back nor forth. He was stuck in a dead end after Ramsey made sure to burn his supplies. He knew they were all going ot die if he didnt do anything. So in the context of these circumstances, Stannis decision does not seem too out of character to be honest.

in the books shes apparently immune against diseases of any sort. Besides, he touched her with his right hand, not with the part that is covered with greyscale. So this might save her

I agree that it is horrific writing on D&D's part that they had him give Shireen the father of the year speech a few eps back, only for him to burn her now I guess it's kinda something that I've felt was going to happen all along anyways, seeing the kind of person Stannis is and how much he wants the throne, so it's not that surprising to me.

It's not forgotten it's just not implied at all in the show, I literally have no clue at what pace the time jumps are happening because there's barely any mention of it. Botlon said they had enough food and supplies to out last stannis for 6 months. But how long did it take Ramsey to reach stannis's camp? how long did it take ser davos to make it back to the knight watch to get supplies? was he denied that help? was it going to take too long to talk jon into helping? was there no word back and forth between Ser D and Stannis? how long did stannis wait before giving in to the idea of killing his daughter? did he give in because he and his men were going to die? or did he give in because he's all about that throne?
