New Marina Single "Shattered Light"
Title: "Shattered Light"
Written by: Marina Diamandis, Łukasz Gottwald & Henry Walter
Produced by: Dr. Luke, Cirkut & Kool Kojak
Genre: Pop, electronic, dance
Length: 4:48
"The song opens right to a part of the chorus, with absolutely no music backing it other than a constant kick drum. "I'm still fighting this eternal war", she sings softly, as if she's scared to absolutely let her voice bloom. When she finishes the four lines, there's a gentle, yet upbeat, piano riff that begins, giving a somewhat relaxing feeling to the song. Though it doesn't have any real emotion, happiness or sadness to it, you would still expect someone to be playing it with a passion. A kick drum and some synths are added to the backing track along with some rumbling bass that can only be compared to thunder; the piano gently fades out when Marina begins to sing, this time in her normal voice, but not absolutely belting out her emotion-filled notes; 'Nothing could ever stop that young heart of mine'. Every few seconds, there is a clap in the drums, but it isn't consistent, and it's far from predictable. The synths are gone in the pre-chorus, with only the kick drum and the bass as she continues to sing, much more emotional this time, as in about to cry; 'Your troubled ways make my life full of pain. I'll fight to go on with it, my strength will not give out, but you'll always remain the same'. With the first two lines of the chorus, there's only the kick drum like in the intro; Marina lets out her voice, unrestrained this time, and complete with emotion; 'It was never meant to be perfect'. After those, there's some stabbing synths added to it, similar to the previous single 'Holy Woman', & the next two lines have pauses every now and then, but it's totally made up for with the fact that there's so much emotion in her voice; 'I... don't... think... life can be cheated, it's... a... game... you have to play'. When the chorus finally smashes in totally, back to the four lines at the beginning of the song, the kick drums are stomping louder than before, and there's a chaotic, roaring bassline. There's a ton of shaking, crashing, boom sounds all over the place, adding a sense of chaos that's perfectly synchronized in the weirdest way possible. It all stops for the second verse, where it's only the bass, not even a drum beat; 'Everything we had of ours, thrown into the bin'. The pre-chorus adds the chaotic sounds from the first chorus over a subtle bassline and kick drums. When the chorus returns once again, it feels empty, as if ready to build up. This time, there's a definite guitar in it, similar to most other Dr. Luke productions, but it's ready to build up; after the first four lines, there's an electronic bass added once again; the two instruments build and intensify throughout the chorus until there's a brief electro breakdown for only around 7 seconds, and it returns to another verse, which follows the same beat as the second verse; 'I'll never give up on us, I swear it's true'. This time, there is no pre-chorus, and it just returns to the chorus, which yet again, is only the guitar and bass like the last one. It suddenly all stops to a silence for a moment, and then there's the kick drum that's been in the song since the beginning. It goes on with just the kick drum for 5 seconds or so, when you can suddenly hear something build in the background, a guitar and a few synths, but they're barely there at the beginning. They grow for around 10 seconds, when everything suddenly smashes into a dancing beat, electronic and raving, perfect to dance to, sure to send fans into overdrive in a club or at a concert. The beat continues on during a middle 8 where Marina sings her heart out, her most emotional vocals to date; 'I've never done anything wrong to you... Do you really think I'm that weak?'. It crashes to silence for a moment, and Marina just speaks over the silence; 'Nothing makes sense anymore, and all I want to do is scream'. It then returns to the chorus, but it has the dancing rave beat from the middle 8 in it instead of either of the previous versions of the chorus in the song. There's a high-pitched buildup in the background of the raving bass-heavy beat, and an increasing-in-speed clap until her vocals stop, and it's just the rave beat for another 15 seconds, and the song cuts to a sudden end."
"I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war"
Full "Shattered Light" Lyrics
CHORUS:
I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war
VERSE 1:
You told me, together we'd grow old
I trusted you, you were all that was at the time
I grabbed your hand, it I promised to always hold
Nothing could ever stop that young heart of mine
PRE-CHORUS:
Life is never easy, to that, there is no doubt
Your troubled ways make my life full of pain
I'll fight to go on with it, my strength will not give out
But you'll always remain the same
CHORUS:
It was never meant to be perfect
Things could not go that way
I don't think life can be cheated
It's a game you have to play
I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war
VERSE 2:
The other girl was only the first of the signs
I'd try to ignore it, thinking that's how I'd win
If only I knew that it wouldn't work at the time
Everything of ours that we had, thrown into the bin
PRE-CHORUS:
Life is never easy, to that, there is no doubt
You're troubled ways make my life full of pain
I'll fight to go on with it, my strength will not give out
But you'll always remain the same
CHORUS:
It was never meant to be perfect
Things could not go that way
I don't think life can be cheated
It's a game you have to play
I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war
VERSE 3:
I'll never give up on us, I swear it's true
You just decided to give up, and throw it all away
I never know what you're really gonna do
You'll realize that we need to stay some day
CHORUS:
It was never meant to be perfect
Things could not go that way
I don't think life can be cheated
It's a game you have to play
I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war
Blood and flesh cover the ground
I've never been so sure that things were done
You've damaged my heart for the last time
And you'll always see this war as the one you won
MIDDLE 8:
I've tried so hard
Why can't you just stay with that?
I've never done anything to give up
You just pulled back, and thought it would be fun to run
I've never done anything wrong to you
I'd never give up on you
Do you really think I'm that weak?
Please don't do this
I can't take it...
SPOKEN BRIDGE:
The end should be the least of my problems
My sanity is the biggest thing at stake
Nothing makes any sense anymore
And all I want to do is scream...
CHORUS:
It was never meant to be perfect
Things could not go that way
I don't think life can be cheated
It's a game you have to play
I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war
Blood and flesh cover the ground
I've never been so sure that things were done
You've damaged my heart for the last time
And you'll always see this war as the one you won
I scream and shout, but don't give in
There's broken pieces on the floor
Shattered light is everywhere
And I'm still fighting this eternal war
Blood and flesh...
(It's mine)
I'll scream...
It's done...
You've won

Jigglypuff & Loreen Webcast Interview: Hosted by YouTube
A live webcast interview for both Loreen and Jigglypuff was hosted on Youtube.com today. Fans got to ask Jigglypuff and Loreen (almost) anything they liked. Some of the more notable questions are below.
"Fan: Are you two planning on doing a musical collab soon?
Jigglypuff: Well, Lore? Are we?
Loreen: Oh, I don't know if I can say much just yet, but...I will leave you with a "maybe".
F: For Loreen: Big Bang was recently put on your label...are they the "unexpected collab" you were talking about?
L: *small laugh* You surely are perceptive, aren't you? But, you'll just have to buy the album to find out for yourself!
F: Jiggly: The collab you did with Gwen is amazing! What is the collab you did with Paris like?
J: Well, I can tell you that it is trance meets hip-hop. It's very unique! You can preview the song on iTunes if you are really interested in knowing what it sounds like before buying the deluxe version of "Haven"
F: Do any of you still talk to Jessie J?
L: I have done a bit more than just talk with her lately...
J: What have you been doing, then?
L: You'll see.
J: I song-write with her once in a while. I really love her style.
F: Jiggly: Do you ever plan on breaking ties with Nintendo?
J: No. They are the reason I am where I am today, and they have been nothing but supportive of my endeavors.
F: Lore (if we are also allowed to call you that), what is something on your EP, besides for the "Fantastic" song, that people may be shocked to hear?
L: You can call me Lore if you'd like, nicknames are a way for people to feel closer to each other, no? To answer your real question, I have 1 really upbeat track (other than the "Fantastic" collab), and I have a feeling that, although it's a beat different than my usual, my fans will really enjoy it!"
The webcast went on for 1 hour, and many interesting things happened, such as Jigglypuff and Loreen having a note-holding contest. There was also suggestions of the other half of Hug a Marine, ent. getting their own webcast, but nothing is confirmed.

Rihanna on Saturday Night Live
Rihanna stopped by Saturday Night Live again to perform her latest single "Side Effects", as well as her previous single "Black Butterflies". The producers of SNL invited her back just after a week, it seems like they really do enjoy her there!
Rihanna performed a upbeat version of "Side Effects" with black hair and a team of African inspired dancers on an African inspired set. The high energy performance was executed well.
She also performed the acoustic version of Black Butterflies wearing a simple black dress.

Paris Hilton Reveals New Single + Cover Art
After the success of her #3 peaking lead single Playhouse, Paris seems ready for another smash. Paris revealed on Twitter earlier that the 2nd single from her upcoming album, Appetite, is titled One Little Two and features Australian female rapper, Iggy Azalea. She also revealed the cover art for the single and it is SEXY AS HELL. We're assuming that this new single is also sex-themed just like her lead single.
Paris Hilton Debuts New Single On Ryan Seacrest
Paris Hilton debuted her new single on Ryan Seacrest today. Remember when they were to have a reality show together back in 2008? Wonder what happened to that. Anyway, Seacrest gave Paris a mini-interview as well before the debut.
Q: You've been very controversial this week. How did you deal with all the stress?
A: Facial, shopping and sex.
Q: Who is Lil Wayne in your life? Is it true that you are cheating on River Viiperi with him?
A: I have an Oprah interview this week so I suggest you just watch that 'cause everything will be answered there. But here's an answer, No.
Q: Interesting. You also released a sextape with River Viiperi as the accompanying video to your lead single, Playhouse. Is this against your will?
A: No. It was actually my suggestion. After my last sextape in 2007, people were asking for more. And what's wrong with complying to that request? They've seen it all anyways.
Q: But what did River feel?
A: He's all for it. You know he's a model and they glorify nudity. Plus he's a bit of an attention ***** but don't tell him that.
Q: Will the video for this new single also be a sextape? And the song features the smoking hot Iggy Azalea. Should we expect some lesbian action in the video? Oops, I got a boner!
A: You horny boy! Of course not! I don't wanna be predictable. I want my videos this era to be diverse but still has a binding theme.
Q: This new song samples the nursery rhyme, "Ten Little Indian Boys". Is your targeted demographic for this song children?
A: Are you stupid? Of course, not! I just sampled the nursery rhyme and gave it a very explicit twist. You're about to find that out in a minute.
Q: Thank you for that interview, Paris. What do you wanna say to our listeners right now?
A: Buy 'One Little Two' on iTunes right now! This song is gonna make you wet your pants!
Paris Hilton Buys Radio Deal
Paris Hilton just sent her new single One Little Two to urban, pop and rap stations today. But it is not only the song that she sent them, she also sent them CA$H to play her new single 'as much as possible' everyday. Putting those dollars to good use, girl!

Hyped and Dash Records have to decided to move on from the 2nd collaboration single, "#HitTheDrum" onto different singles. Insiders say, the single didn't reach the success of "Come & Get It" mostly due to bad timing in promotion, and general public thinking it was too early for another collaboration single from them to be everywhere. Former single, "Come & Get It" reached #1, and "#HitTheDrum" reached a peak of #3 before dropping midly this week. It's also been seen Justin has been in studio numerous more times, which means Hyped Records is trying to move on from the 'Thrill Seeker' era. Many people are wondering where this new single, will lead Bieber to. His last single ruined his #1 streak from the previous 2 singles before, and his last single he did that wasn't a collaboration or had a feature was "Cassanova" which peaked at #4. His lowest of the era so far, though very impressive in general. Hyped Records has also press-announced, a moderate instead of heavy promotion for the song this week - focusing on new singer Justin Timberlake. The single will hopefully be able to reach a decent peak for Bieber, before the 'Thrill Seeker' era comes to a haul.
Artist: Justin Bieber
Song: This Will Be The End
Time: 4:02 (Radio Version: 3:48)
Genre: Pop
Producer(s): David Guetta, Dr.Luke
Writer(s): Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake
"This Will Be The End" is singer Justin Bieber's, 5th single a track from the successful album "Thrill Seeker". The song has a story of a Bieber, coming to an end on many things. Some of the subjects include friendships, a normal life, etc. It doesn't give off a fully negative theme, as some of the things mentioned are positive things to get rid of. The song it's self is just a goodbye, to everything he use to know. The track is the last track on Thrill Seeker, to go along with the theme of the song ironically. Justin Timberlake helped him writer this song, along with their song "Stop" together on Thrill Seeker. To give the song a deep, but electronic feel Dr.Luke and David Guetta were both added to produce for the song. The song was made during early 2013, and was one of Justin's last recorded songs for 'Thrill Seeker'. Justin went to Twitter to announce the single has been sent to radios, along with a lyric production coming for it soon. The song has been performed recently at Snowflake Awards earlier this week, and he is scheduled to perform further this week in different locations. As of today, on Hyped Records Music site the single is now under the new singles tab, and on Justin Bieber's part of the site. JustinBieber.com has also started putting promotions of the new song on it's site. The song is available on all digital retailers, iTunes, Amazon, Google +, and more for the standard MP3 price of $1.29 (since Bieber doesn't have to discount everything for hits. ). Justin is also supposedly scheduled to perform that song at a Chicago event during his tour there on June 12th but we have no confirmation over whether any of that circulated information is true at all. For now the song has been sent to all Pop and Rhythmic stations, and Justin Bieber has got his fans to get "Buy TWBTE" on Twitter to trending Worldwide.
Mediabase.com
Justin Timberlake's album, "Above The Horizon" was released today to all digital and real-life retailers. Walmart, Spotify, Pandora, and everyone else was lined up and had "Above The Horizon" getting them money. Target is also releasing a Bonus Version tomorrow, which will also include 2 more tracks. Today, Justin Timberlake did an album release party with fans at the iHeartRadio Studios. Instead of doing a festival, they opened it up for friends in the movie industry, music industry, and fans to celebrate his new album and his transition from movies to music. Many of his close friends and family attended, as well as movie stars such as Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Anniston, Zoe Salanada, among others. Music Stars were Justin Bieber, P!NK, Azealia Banks, Mariah Carey, and some other stars outside of the Hyped Records Family. Justin commented on the movie and music family support saying, "They may not be related to me, but they are very much a family. We just all attend each other's releases, movies, everything. We're all a big Hollywood Family, and I'm very appreciative of knowing them". Hundreds of his deepest and closest fans came, and were thrilled to see another side of Justin and loved it. The streaming party was around 3 hours, and about an hour was it of everyone dancing to Justin Timberlake's new album. Mostly everyone heard the tracks for the first time, except the now Top 10 "Female Reflection" which everyone got excited for. There's was also lots of positive reception surrounding Timberlake's 2nd single to be official later, "1938 (Tonight)". The single commented on by Mila Kunis "is highly contagious, and it's destined to smash. Definitely on a Female Reflection level". She was also proud of Justin's success in the Music Industry, and quite shocked. The event was also attended by reviewers such as, "Pitchfork" and "AllMusic" who got to hear it the opening day. Overall, many said the album party itsself was good and so was the music. Everyone expects for "Above the Horizon" to do great things.

the past two days, Justin Bieber and other label mate Justin Timberlake both performed on huge international shows. Justin Bieber performed at the Snowflake Award's closing ceremony, and Justin Timberlake closed out the episode of "American Idol" Friday night. Both of them brought to the stage very well, and it was very enjoyable to see both their performances each day without any cringeworthy moments or cringeworthy vocals.
Justin Bieber on Snowflake Awards: Justin Bieber came onto stage during the finale of the Snowflake Awards. After winning Favorite New Artist, Favorite Team Duo (with Ke$ha), and Favorite Male Artist. The performance was a medley. To begin it was his current single at the time, "#HitTheDrum". It was a very robot and futuristic performance. The moves were a bit stale, but were somewhat cute and good in a male teeny pop act way. The song it's self wasn't bad, so that also helped. Justin has vocals to him for a man, whether anyone wants to admit or not. He did good vocals, followed by on key choreography. That's all that's needed these days, with non-singers and those too lazy to dance right? The performance was interesting enough to keep you from picking up the remote, especially after some performances that were lackluster compared. Then in the medley, came the last and 2nd song. His new single, "The Beat Won't Stop". The final single from "Thrill Seeker", the single was new to everyone. It was risky to perform on a big award show like this, but it was a decent song. He's had some singles better, but I personally prefer this over the childish Radio Disney act, "Cassanova". His vocals showed more maturity, and more growth compared to it. It's a good choice for a solo single, even though he had some more anticipated songs compared to it to be singles. The dancing to it was also new, the stage turned very brightly - electronic and dance like to fit the song. It's weird because, dance songs are usually UPBEAT. This wasn't low-tempo, but rather mid-tempo (Scream & Shout / #ThatPower like). The dancing was also different in a better way, instead of the average choreography Bieber put on some real dnace moves. His dance moves resembled those of legends before, and it was a full sweat routine which is what I liked. He put on a SHOW, something the viewers ourselves turned into to see. The 2nd song overall made the performance very worthy to see, compared to some performances he's done before too.
Justin Timberlake on American Idol: As the elimination was going into place for the final contestants on American Idol, Justin Timberlake performed his new song "Female Reflection". The stage lights and stage overall dimmed as usual with the red/velvet lighting. Female dancers came onto stage, and Timberlake came to microphone and opened his mouth. The vocals were very strong for Timberlake, though a little light for a deepish song. Timberlake went onto perform the song infront of the beautiful female dancers, and then did a part where a female came up to him and they acted out a scene to the song. The female realizes they are life-long lovers, and falls into his ams. They go happily ever, and in the mirror he looks and sees her instead of a reflection of him. Hence, "female reflection". Kind of a cute Romeo & Juliet, but 2013. The crowd loved his performance and acting, judging by the standing ovation even the judges were to their feet. They loved it, and one of the judges said "He needs to be on this show! The talent is pure and raw! I absolutely love it!". He took pictures with the judges, and contestants as they went back to revealing the final results of American Idol.

A$AP Rocky seen going to Rihanna's hotel
A$AP Rocky was seen going into Rihanna's hotel in New York City today. He was wearing casual clothes and seemed like he was trying to sneak in. When paparazzi caught sight of him, he remained calm and posed for a few pictures.
This sparked rumors that A$AP and Rihanna are dating and were possibly seeing each other while Cassie and Rihanna were dating, before the breakup. A$AP is featured on a remix of "Side Effects", Rihanna's latest single.

Kylie covers Rolling Stone!
Kylie Minogue lands the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. She took the time to discuss her new album and comeback in America.
Some exerts:
On the new album:
Quote:
I think my fans will be pleasantly surprised with my new album. I recorded a lot of the material out here in LA last summer, I love working with American producers. If I had to describe the album in one word, it would be 'Sexy'. There are a few surprise collaborations on there but I won't reveal them yet. The title of my album is going to be 'Midnight'. This reflects the kind of music on the album, it's sensual, it's crazy, it keeps you up at night and makes you want to dance til dawn. 'Midnight' is going to be one of my best albums to date, mark my words.
|
On her comeback and America:
Quote:
I've never had much interest in cracking America before, I had my loyal fans back in my home-country and I had a huge following in the UK. I was always just too busy and it seemed like doing the whole America thing would be too obvious. I wanted to prove myself and take the time to make the music right for me, rather than just try to make cheap hits to make me big in one specific country. I feel like the time is right for me to come to America and showcase my music, I am not changing myself or my style for anyone. This album isn't about trying to get 5 #1 singles, it's about showcasing my music and doing something for my fans. I'm not here to be compared to artists like Madonna, i'm here to be Kylie.
|
On her new single Privilege
Quote:
The first single is called Privilege and will be out very soon, it's coming in the next week. The video is super sexy and cheeky. It's very pop, it's very sultry, it's very Kylie, my fans will not be disappointed.

But there's definitely a play on my spanish and latin influences. I definitely cater to both cultures. It's a nice mix of both. I'm in love with it.". She said the album featured collaboration from superstar Selena Gomez and a few more that would be exciting.
