I think it's interesting that viewers and critics are so disgusted and outraged by events this season in Game of Thrones that they're willing to threaten boycotts and give it ****** reviews. Not a single horrifying event that's happened in the series is something you can't find in our own history books.

Bye it's not because they happen, it's because this show religiously keeps adding violence for no other reason than for shock tactic. It's like they went oh boobs aren't shocking anybody anymore let's throw in a rape scene.

Dany being raped by drogo, added what to her plot line? added what to the story itself?

Cersei being raped by Jamie next to their son's dead body added nothing to her plot line or the story itself and it undermined Jamie's character development.

Nobody was threatening to boycott when sansa was getting beaten or when she was almost raped, or when the red wedding happened or when theon got raped and mutilated, because as hard as those scenes where to watch they weren't random they had a purpose they didn't just happen and was oops never mentioned again.

Not them just making Shireen a case of 'familiar love'. They're acting like she's some ordinary nephew of Stannis like Edric Storm. She is his only heir and the only person he looks out for in terms of wellbeing, HE WOULD NEVER. This is awful D&D, and I really loved Stannis this season only for them to completely ruin his character.

I'm also really starting to dislike the Dorne plot, it makes zero sense and literally has been just a waste of time. The only reason they sent Jaime there was so they wouldn't have to do LSH and the Riverlands. **** them, they don't know **** about this story tbh.

The only thing I really liked this episode was the chaos in the fighting pit, when Jorah/Daario/Tyrion were offing bitches together. All of them standing in the middle of the pit surrounded by some Unsullied and a Harpy army. That was great.

I bet Brienne killing Stannis will be the season-ending scene.

I can see why book readers might be upset watching this episode. I have read how certain scenes were depicted in the books vs. how they were depicted in the series, and its true, some things are quite different.

1) Stannis actually does not kill his daughter in the books. This of course is completely different from the series and has a crucial effect on the perception of the viewer: We hate Stannis now. However, in case George approved of that, it does mean that he plans to describe Stannis as the uber-ambitious person he is, who would literally do anything to be on the Iron Throne. So maybe, in the books it'll be revealed that he wont grieve as hard for his daughter as people assume he will.
In the context of the series, it did make sense for him to sacrifice her. I mean, at Castle Black he was still insisting that he would never do that. However, since then he has spent many weeks and months trying to survive in the cold together with his army without making any progress. After Ramseys sabotage, he was left with no food, a hungry army, and nowhere to go. So in his eyes, the sacrifice of his own daughter made sense, especially since he had evidence of Melisandres power when using Kings Blood. So even though this scene was depicted completely different, in the context of the series it actually made sense. When there's no way back or forth, what's the option?! To sit it out and die waiting? So he clings to his one and only option even though its incredibly cruel.

2) Another scene that was depicted differently was the Dany scene. While she was portrayed as a dragon tamer in the books who whipped Drogon and proved herself worthy of riding him, in the series this did not happen. Similar to Stannis, I do feel that this is not too bad. I mean, at the end of the day, the relationship between Dany and her dragons is based on Dany overcoming her fear and the establishing of their mutual trust. The moment she saw Drogon in the series, she stepped forward and showed that she is not scared of him anymore and trusts him. Yes, she didnt tame him with power and brutality, but she did so with showing shes not scared anymore. So the difference is not too huge I feel. And I mean, the directors only have 50 minutes to use, so of course they need to make sure to save their time where its possible. And in the context of the series, the way they approached the relation between Drogon and Dany did make sense as well. The effect is the same, Dany feels safe with her dragons now and they accept her as her mother. I bet in future, we will get many badass Dany scenes now that she can be sure of the power of her dragons.

So to me personally, its perfectly fine how the directors translated the book scenes into its series form.
