08. Britney Spears - Gimme More
"We can get down like there's no one around, we'll keep on rockin'..."
It's Britney, bitch! Love it or hate it, Britney made the biggest comeback this year, anywhere you go, you'll see people talking about her. I wasn't a big fan before this song, but after I heard it for the first time things changed. The song is extremely catchy and you are sure to have the chorus stuck in your head. The Danja production is flawless, and the "It's Britney, bitch" announcement that opens the song is a classic line. Gimme More is simply a great dance track, and while it's not the best in the album, the song still very unique and one of the best of the year. I'm sure Britney will dominate 2008, just like she did 2007, hopefully she makes the headlines with her music this time.
07. Daughtry - Home
"Back to the place where I belong, and where your love has always been enough for me..."
I know many of us where angry when Chris Daughtry placed 4th place in American Idol, well everything was for the best as he is the most succesful artist from that season and delivered one of the best selling albums of the year. Home is the second single from that album, and it's one of the best ballads of the year. The sentimental lyrics about returning to the warmth of one's home and Chris Daughtry's voice are perfect, so perfect that it was used as the elimination song on American Idol. Overall, one of the best tracks of the year, and I think it's time for Daughtry to go and make a new record.
