I finally broke down and watched it on the E! site instead of VEVO.
The prelude was epic, as was the end and the blowing up of cars. They needed more of that and less of the dance studio. And, as usual, the good scenes would've been better with a real director.
If only the whole video were like the end and the beginning, it would have been great. As it stands, I will not watch it again.
Why does she blow up a car? is she a terrorist? the video doesn't make any sense to me

My interpretation is that she was a young girl looking to make it in the business, became an alcoholic, & after being rejected by both men & record companies, attempted to commit suicide after she thought she would never reach stardom. The portion of the video where the song plays is her becoming who she was when Interscope signed her.
What an overblown, overcooked (key word: over), pretentious, self-aggrandizing bore. No **** she's an artist, but she won't convince me she's a good one by repeating it over and over again (in French no less! ). She'll only convince me if she shows me by, idk, maybe putting out a good video? She really is infatuated with her own greatness and how she overcame all odds (most of them probably fabricated) to become a STAR. I half-expected her name to go up in lights and fireworks.
This says nothing of the choppy editing, poor choice of angles/close-ups/framing, slow pacing (for a mv) and the fact that to the average viewer, it won't make a lick of sense.
5/5 bad videos this era.
My reaction to the video is the opposite of what it intends: I understood why Def Jam dropped her.
I really like the video but I agree that it will not make much sense to the average viewer. As a fan I see the little things that give the video a higher view in my eyes.
