The youthfulness of Deep River with its organic instrumentation to the same youthfulness but with aggression and more electronic influences on Exodus. Then taking the same electronic sound but maturing it, but with still innocence on Ultra Blue.

Then Heart Station comes around taking those electronic sounds and calming them along with a more mature and adult point of view. Then comes Fantome stripping back and going in full circle back to Deep River with the organic and acoustic instrumentals but now it removes the youthfulness of Deep River and replaces it with a mature, sad and motherly vibe.

Idk if any of this makes sense but ahhh my ****ing fave

Is this album worth listening to for a non-Japanese speaking person? If I wanted to get into her music, which album should I start with? The English ones?

This album probably isn't that good as a starting point.

IMO you should start with her best album Deep River or if you want English first Exodus

Exodus-> Ultra Blue -> Heart Station is a very accessible easy start for someone trying to ease into her musical style and then into Japanese language album. After that First Love, Deep River and Distance then Fantôme.

You should start with Deep River before Ultra Blue though.

Michi (Road), Nijikan Dake No Vacance (2 Hour Vacation) and Sakura Nagashi (Flowing Cherry Blossoms) from Fantome are pretty good starters for newcomers too imo.

Also check out her Kingdom Hearts tracks, Simple and Clean and Sanctuary. They're pretty much the songs she's most well-known for in the western world. Though the Japanese version of the latter song (Passion) is better so listen to that too.

I don't really like Exodus and tbh I don't think it's that good of a starter pack for a new Hikki fan.

Yeah I don't think Exodus is a good start for a new listener, ULTRA BLUE and DEEP RIVER are the ones you should try imo
