There are already enough shows about vampires and werewolves, so AHS doesn't need to and shouldn't indulge in that. I think something like aliens or cowboys or something unique could be cool.

I'm a bit afraid that the whole storyline could be similar to Coven. In Coven, all the time we tried to find out who's the new Supreme. In Freak Show it may be attempts to expose the identity of the "clown killer".

It happens every season, Who Is Rubber Man? Who is Leather Face? Who Is The New Supreme?
You really can't do horror without an unknown evil force pulling the strings.
IDK but I do know I hope they never do vampires and warewolves either that'd be so Twilight. I wish they'd have something like "the village" set up in the 1800's and there was some kinda beast/monster terrorizing the town.
