Chris Brown's Dad Says His Son Is 'Remorseful'
Speaking out for the first time since his son's arrest, Chris Brown's biological father, Clinton Brown, tells PEOPLE his son is at home, reflective and filled with concern.
"He's reflecting on this situation," Brown, 44, a corrections officer, tells PEOPLE in an interview at his home outside Tappahannock, Va. "He's very remorseful. He's very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that [Rihanna's] okay.
"This is unfortunate, this stumble, this situation," Brown continues. "Hopefully, he will get past it. We all have our shortcomings. We all trip."
And Brown – who flew to Los Angeles to attend the Grammys with his son but never made it to the show – says there are "two sides to every story."
"If you are on his side, you are on his side," he says. "Just because someone trips, if you are truly a fan, you are not going to demonize him instantaneously."
The 19-year-old singer is under police investigation in Los Angeles for allegedly beating Rihanna, 20, early last Sunday morning.
Bouncing Back?
Brown says he spoke to his son in person on Feb. 12. "Let's just say he's home," Brown said, though he never offered a specific location. "Just know that he's home. He needed some time to get his thoughts together and regroup."
Calling his son a "lovable young man," Brown says he worries about the public backlash following the allegations of assault his son faces.
"This music industry is very unforgiving when it comes to having indiscretions," Brown says. "He will continue to be a good person. He loves people. And like most of us, most humans, things will occur. And hopefully a person won't be judged simply on that alone."
A Good Son
Like Chris's friends, who have spoken about Brown's easygoing nature, his father says Brown was well liked in school. "He had plenty of friends," he says. "All the kids gravitated to Chris."
As for how he feels about his son, Brown says, "As a father, I couldn't be more proud … He's the light of my life."
And, he notes, as a teenager, he still has a lot of maturing to do. "I think he's [going to] grow as an individual," he says. "He's going to take from this situation and learn from it."

Extent of Rihanna's injuries are key to prosecution case
The nature of performer Rihanna’s injuries will likely determine the charges prosecutors file against her alleged assailant, R&B singer Chris Brown, according to legal experts.
The possible charges range from misdemeanor battery, which would probably mean no time behind bars, to felony assault with great bodily injury, which requires prison time, said Dmitry Gorin, a former deputy district attorney now in private practice.
“It really comes down to the level of injury to the victim, the prior record of the accused and any prior pattern of violence,” he said. Brown, 19, had no criminal record before he was booked Sunday for making criminal threats against his 20-year-old girlfriend.
Rumors about the extent of her injuries have swirled since the incident. Police sources have told The Times that Rihanna suffered contusions and a scratch to her face and was treated at a “major medical facility” for her injuries.
Former prosecutor Michael Kraut, now a criminal defense attorney, said the fact that she sustained injuries traumatic enough for medical treatment made it unlikely prosecutors would pass the case off to the city attorney’s office for misdemeanor prosecution.
“A little fight in the car and he slapped her, it’s much more likely to be referred,” Kraut said.
Los Angeles police turned the case over to prosecutors earlier this week, but the district attorney’s office sent it back for further work.
“In cases where the suspect is free on bail, it is not uncommon to ask for additional investigation from the Police Department before we make a filing decision,” said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
Brown is free on $50,000 bail.

The fact that they only charge Chris with Threats when TMZ report a "very close source to the police" said they have These "horrific" pics of Rihanna's injuries, How much evidence do u they need..If they have these Pics, what else do they want..They have NO CASE!!!

Whos talking about tmz, bew?
I'm talking about the official news that the DA is sending the case back for more investigation which means they arent just jumping the gun and filing the battery or assault charges. They're making sure everything it 100% before they proceed. They're actually being careful about it & not just assuming everything is the way it is but they're still giving him a general charge.

Rumor Has It: The Fact And Fiction About Chris Brown & Rihanna
"Rumor has it."
What do we really know about Chris Brown and Rihanna? Judging by reports, not much.
"And unnamed source close to the situation said..."
"According to reports made by someone close to Rihanna..."
Etc, etc etc.
As the Chris Brown/Rhianna fiasco continues to be molded and shaped by numerous unnamed sources and those supposedly close to the situation, the general public has been inundated with enough speculation to form their own truths regarding the matter. Unfortunately for both Brown and Rihanna, the public opinion based on mere speculation without any word coming from those actually involved in the situation can be quite damaging to both artists public image. Case in point, Brown losing endorsements and being rejected by radio as well as some blaming Rihanna for pushing Brown over the edge.
Let’s take a look at what we do know and what – to this point – is mere speculation.
The Facts:
Chris Brown and an unidentified woman – which multiple reports lead to be Rihanna - were in a physical altercation as the two were riding together in a rented Lamborghini after Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. A police statement that was released Sunday afternoon stated that Brown and an unidentified woman were arguing while driving. The couple pulled over in the Hancock Park neighborhood, where the argument escalated to a physical altercation. The altercation left the victim (Rihanna) visibly hurt and Brown fled the scene before cops arrived. Brown would turn himself in to police after being booked only on suspicion of making a criminal threat and would subsequently be released after posting $50k bail. Both he and Rihanna would not participate in the Grammy awards Sunday night and furthered the claim that Rihanna was indeed the unidentified woman. Publicists for both artists have remained mum on the subject.
The Rumors:
Chris Brown and Rihanna had a volatile relationship in the past that came to a head on that fateful night. Some rumors cited that the argument started over one giving the other an STD, while other rumors have stated that a “booty call” text message to Brown from an unidentified woman (the women that have been named to this point are Paris Hilton, Leona Lewis and Keisha Chante) began the fight. Neither claim has been substantiated.
Sources have said that Brown was jealous of Rihanna spending time with Timbaland at a pre-Grammy party while others have claimed that Rihanna has had issues with Brown’s fidelity over the past few months. Another rumor has spread that Rihanna has often been physical with Brown and has slapped him in public on numerous occasions
Multiple unnamed sources “close to the situation” have outlined drastically different sequences of events for what took place between Brown and Rihanna on that night. Some have said that after receiving the text, Rihanna hit Brown while driving and Brown fought back and struck Rihanna. Others have said that Brown and Rihanna were in a heated argument and Brown hit and choked Rihanna until she lost consciousness.
A third - and more detailed - story finds Rihanna telling Brown to take her home after the argument. During the drive, Rihanna supposedly faked a call to someone and asked to “make sure the cops are there,” which drove Chris into a rage and found him threatening the pop star’s life. After striking Rihanna with his fists, she somehow managed to take the keys out of the ignition and throw them out of the window. After the scuffle came to the end, a homeowner in the area called 911 and Brown fled the scene before the cops would arrive.
The injuries that Rihanna has supposedly sustained read like a laundry list of injuries sustained in a world title fight: Black eye, contusions on both sides of the face, busted/broken nose, busted lip, bite marks on the arms and fingers.
So What Do We Really Know?
At this current point and time, there is no validity to any of the claims and the more rumors that circulate without a merit of truth, the more damaging to both of these young artists’ careers.
Everyone wants to feel like they are close to the situation and know something that somebody else doesn’t. Sadly, this has led to some pretty outrageous rumors that have only tossed gasoline on a story that has been a four alarm blaze since it first hit the internet last Sunday.
Although this story has become a juicy tidbit of news over the past week, domestic violence is nothing to scoff at until we understand the true nature of what happened on that evening in the rented Lamborghini. The only two people that know exactly what happened – Chris Brown and Rihanna – are ironically the only two who have had absolutely nothing to say up to this point.
Without either of them speaking publically, passing judgment on what happened is exactly what this article is all about – pure speculation.

^That makes alot of sense, but we know alot more than just that. Alot of what we heard is gossip but at the same time, some of the stuff we heard is as close to the truth as we're gonna get.
Can I ask you something, if you're so bent on understanding the whole situation, why exactly are you rockin' that Team Breezy thing then? Shouldnt you wait before you pass judgment etc etc?

your a dumb ****. If it was Rihanna or not who was abused (OBVIOUSLY it is), he still BEAT UP a girl.... He attacked another human being. I really think it will be hard for his career to be revived. Everyone I know who used to LOVE him, are disgusted by him now, My radio station played his song today, and I turned off the radio in disgust.
He physically attacked someone, and THAT is not right. He needs to go away........ I would be disgusted if he has the success he ONCE had.
my dad, who is NOT into celebrity stuff even, made a comment about it to me, which shocked me. He said that Chris Brown is a disgusting figure, and that no one should EVER physically attack anyone. There is no reason for it, and he also said that Chris just needs to go away if he knows whats best.

It has been said many times but even if Rihanna pushed his buttons there was no reason for him to beat her up. Maybe we can argue if she hit him first and hurt him, but it's still a lose lose situation for Chris Brown.

Basically...
Police didnt report him having any bruises so even still, his argument that "she started it" would totally backfire.
Best believe if it wasnt Rihanna who got hurt, nobody would find any fault in Chris & would be all on his balls. I'm not suprised by the people who are on obviously being blind to the facts presented though.

omg! this is getting out of hand. My friends dad works for a newspaper he went to LA and found out the truth from people + there managers. A girl continuosly was flirting w/ chris brown. Rihanna took is phone and found that he had a ton of texts from the girl. She confronted him, and then the fight escalated and she got hurt. No herpes, no she was cheating on him, everything has been so exaggerated.

Exactly.. some people are so dumb and naive in the way they will blindly defend someone. That is why women continue to be victims of abusive relationships..because they make excuse after excuse after excuse. Some chick thinks Chris Brown makes hit songs so that MUST mean he's a good guy, right? Wrong.
