Okay... Can we establish how you lot define 'remembered' here?
For me, numbers & mainstream popularity don't matter. Media exposure will come and go. But how ppl will keep talking about the music and the myth surrounding an artist is what, imo, important.
Case in point: Joy Division. Still relevant 30 years later even tho they only had a single that peaked at #6 and that's it. Music geeks from generations are worshiping them to death. Still inspiring a lot of new kids. Their sound is still plagiarised.
Can't say the same with the big selling acts.
