Germany seizes fake Syrian passports in asylum inquiry

German customs officers have seized packages containing Syrian passports and police suspect they are being sold illegally to asylum seekers.

Germany is letting Syrians register for asylum regardless of where they entered the EU. As refugees from the Syrian civil war, most have a right to asylum.

The passports can help fraudulent claimants to get asylum, the EU says.
The ministry official declined to say how many Syrian passports had been found in the customs checks. The German police are now investigating.

The EU border agency Frontex says trafficking in fake Syrian passports has increased, notably in Turkey.

A Frontex official, Fabrice Leggeri, told French radio station Europe 1 that "people who use these fake passports mostly speak Arabic.
"They may come from North Africa, the Middle East, but they have the profile of economic migrants," he said.

I wonder if the mod who warned me for being insensitive lives in Europe, or in one of the countries currently being swarmed? Sorry for fearing for my life. Yesterday I had to cancel plans because hundreds of them are everywhere and we are scared. You can't call the police if they rob you or start a fight with you, the police will just tell you that it's better to ignore them because the trial would take months and they have families who will come after you. The fathers will ask for money and if you don't give it to them, they'll take whatever is in your hand and run. I feel bad for the mothers and children, I have no problem with them getting food and safety. But it's disgusting how media only shows the babies and acts as if there is no danger in letting in the hundreds of thousands of healthy angry men, most of who are just pretending to be Syrian to get symphaty, and DEMANDING things, not caring about what authorities are telling them to do. There just needs to be one ISIS member slipping through the cracks for the train station to blow up in the coming months...

It's a difficult situation because there are real refugees, and families who really did get their houses blown up and have no choice but to leave. That's why it's hard to have a correct stance, because both sides are wrong. Keeping them out is wrong because some families need help. Letting them in is even worse, because many people are abusing the system and pretending to be in danger so they can live off welfare, there's no denying that, and that's why it's dangerous to let them in, and horrible that the poor families have to suffer because of them. I hope that Germany will be able to somehow filter in a couple months who the actual refugees are, and send the ones abusing the system back. That's when the big troubles will start though, because they don't fear for their life anyway, they will riot outside of Germany and the police in the countries won't be allowed to use force without being portrayed as inhumane.

They didn't get buses, but Hungary is letting them board trains now if they buy tickets, to go to the border and walk over to Austria. Train's still aren't allowed to cross the border though.

I think if you're allowed to vote, you're allowed to discuss politics. The bigger picture is the exact thing that we're focusing on. The future. No one knows what is going to happen, but it's safe to assume that letting them in without filtering is not going to end well.

Why don't they show pictures of young healthy men playing with their iPhones when asking for donations? 'Cause nobody sympathizes them. Over 70% of all migrants this year have been men. People that are arriving to Europe this year are the wealthier ones anyway. They've paid thousands of euros to smugglers to get here.

People worse off are still stuck in Syria or have made it to Lebanon or Turkey.
