My sister and her roommates listened to Beyonce all night on Bey's birthday and apparently I Was Here made some of them cry. Lol.

I'll just go ahead and say it: Bey is getting lazy.
Yes i said it and i'm not saying this to drag at all but she is at a weird time in her career in terms of performances right now. We all know she can kill anyone onstage, talent is not the problem but her MATERIAL is getting REALLY repetitive to the point of it being insulting. This was a Festival. Why couldn't she take some songs she never performed live and add them to the setlist? Some songs on her albums deserve to be performed and she NEVER does yet give us DC songs? i'm sorry but no. When i saw Survivor and Say my name on the setlist, i almost stopped watching. I'm sorry but this is not cute anymore when you ignore some of your best songs. ''That's why you're beautiful'' would be so dope live on a festival stage. Why ignore it? and the songs has such a beautiful message. I will also repeat that many songs on Self titled dont translate well live. It was a visual album so the songs reflect that but for the majority, they are not as exciting live. Flawless with the feminism message is tired. Run the world, i cant take it anymore. Crazy in love is a fan favorite but why couldn't she perform the entire Remix instead of a few lines and then go into the same tired routine?
All the rehearsing i hear her do before a performance and in the end, we get a show that is so familiar to the last one, i dont get it. Even the dancers must be bored.
I get that Beyonce is probably at a time in her life when she prefers being with her husband and child rather than the public but dont play your audience like that.
I must add: She focuses WAY too much on production, the big screen than her actual performance now. The way she stands, the background, everything is way too robotic and less natural. Do you guys remember when Beyonce would just adlibs live without any special posture or big production? go watch the DC live in Atlanta show and again and tell me where is this Bey? I just want her to let loose in a Festival, rocking it without the big production, ten costumes. One kick ass outfit, one mic, and great vocals. Period.

you answered your own question it was a FESTIVAL, not her own show. why would you expect her to perform songs like TWYB at a FESTIVAL? or even just want, why want that when its out of the realm of possibility? it was smart of her to perform all of her hits at a festival with a great amount of casuals. Flawless without the feminist message WOULDN'T be Flawless, that's what the song is about..? Feminism?
I will never get the complaining about every show being the same, maybe you just don't see the differences. She always makes so many minor tweaks to her shows and yet everybody still says this
I'm happy she's become more of a visual artist because that means she caters every want anybody going to her show has. a given; production has gone up and has become larger because technology and the times have changed, you can't compare a DC show years ago to a show today in 2015. she's evolved as a visual artist.. Her last album WAS a visual album.
some of what you're desiring is unrealistic and the rest, outdated

Stans always want Bey to perform some deep album cuts like That's Why You're Beautiful but that's not going to happen because she has too many hits, this isn't a tour to promote IASF and when people go to concerts, they expect to hear the big songs. This is how it is for all artists.

So I was there live. It was a pleasant surprise that I knew nothing to expect. Everything was so different and fresh. The Crazy In Love intro was the best thing she's ever done, the change of Partittion and the fact that she performed in a jersey. The new haunted performance. Even XO was performed better. My friends who don't pay attention to her are telling me that she's on a different level and is bigger than Madonna.

Eh.
I mean I live for her performing her greatest hits. Survivor, Crazy In Love, Love on Top >>>>
The only song I didn't want was XO, she can keep it
But why are we acting like she didn't bring other songs that was paid dust in recent years. I only noticed about 4 performances that was the same, everything else was pretty different.

Robotic my ass.

I thought it was really fresh and new.... she remixed almost all of her songs, nothing sounded the same.

I don't get why people say that crap about her performances, she's always been consistent and has always tweaked stuff at every show even if its as minor as a cord change.

Seriously. I swear people just recycle the same tired critique without listening at all. I posted five different live versions of CiL from the last five years alone in the MIA festival thread the other night with the same comments being thrown around.

Seriously. The opening is the most unique and creative one she's ever done. I've never seen her do it like that. There was that one move from OTR, and of course the walk (but that's iconic, she shouldn't touch it) but that's it.
