Wait what? By necessary I mean it was good that she decided to heavily showcase her more upbeat/obviously pop side.
Her recording GL isn't her taking back all those statements that TBDT (unintentionally) ending up making, because she was in a completely different place when she recorded GL. No one's picking one style of music over the other, I'm just saying TBDT forced people to acknowledge ALL sides of Avril Lavigne, and that was a good thing.
