Image: 1
Meaning:
Restless/unhappy woman.
Song:
Why song fits:
I chose "Tired" by Kelly Price because it's about a woman who's grown tired of her relationship. She's unhappy with her husband, fed up with his lies and excuses, tired of the restless nights he's caused her, and tired of giving her all and getting nothing in return.

In the picture, there are a couple lying in the bed. He's sleeping, but she's awake and looking frustrated.
Kylie Minogue's "Sleeping with the Enemy" is about being exposed. In the song, he's muttering about an affair in his sleep and she hears his words that hurt her: "You've been saying crazy things, yeah, as it all unfolds I get a clear view of what you've been doing to me." When he's awake he says he was faithful to her: "You've been lying through your teeth and it makes me want to scream." Love turns into hate in a few minutes that tops in the chorus part: "You're like a stranger in my bed, suddenly now it seems I'm sleeping with the enemy." She's getting confused and asking random questions of the other woman: "Does she make you feel at home? Was it not enough that I love you?" Her frustration comes through the instrumentation of the track and can also be heard in her voice.

Picture 1: Example - Anything
"I used to sleep like a baby now I lay awake at night thinking 'bout my lady maybe
I should take her by, maybe I should take a punch, maybe I should cancel all my flights
take a right turn, left is just the place to run from my demons."
When I look at the picture, I see a relationship which is going through a rough patch. They're lying in the same bed but they have become distant. She's lying awake at night wondering where they went wrong. Maybe there is something they could have done; something she can do now.
Over a simple heartfelt melody and drum beat, Elliot captures this delicate tension, where you internalize all your fears and uncertainties and lie awake at nights calculating your moves and chances. You cant know what the other person is thinking, your heart feels blocked; and in this overwhelming silence, your mind won't let you go to sleep.
It would be so simple if you could just turn around and say it all out loud to the person lying next to you in bed."

1. Mary MacGregor - Torn Between Two Lovers
"There's been another man that I've needed and I've loved,
But that doesn't mean I love you less,
And he knows he can't possess me, and he knows he never will,
There's just this empty place inside of me that only he can fill."
This song is about a woman who currently is dating a man, but her needs aren't completely fulfilled, however another man of interest in her life fulfills them. Even though she loves the guy she's currently not with, she's still in love with her current partner. "Torn between two lovers, feeling like a fool. Loving both of you is breaking all the rules."

Meaning: When I saw this picture, I thought of the end of a relationship. In the woman's face, you can see her sadness that she's shielding away from her man. However, you can tell that she knows that they're over, and she's very sad about this. Also, you can tell that he's slightly unaware of what she knows, meaning there's more to the story (like he cheated, etc.)
Song: So I chose Christina Aguilera's You Lost Me! In this song, I think it perfectly exemplifies my meaning of this picture. Christina is saddened by the impending end of her relationship, due to her man's indiscretion. Not only that, but it's also the fact that they've been slowly distancing themselves apart from one another and lost themselves in the process. She sees that end, and it crushes her, just like that picture.
This picture represents a couple that has rough time in their relationship and they don't want to face it.
The song portrays a couple that, despite being on the same bed. They have distanced from each other.

Image: 2
Meaning:
Gender role reversal.
Song:
Why song fits:
The first song that came to mind when I saw the given image was "G.U.Y.". It not only resembles a scene from the music video, it also relates to the gender roles in the song/video, and the dominance and control that's embodied by the female protagonist.

Picture #2
In the picture, we see the 94-year-old Betty White surrounded by good-looking males who are satisfying her wishes.
Ashlee Simpson's "Boys" is a good fit for this picture. She's hypnotizing and manipulating boys to get what she wants: "You're hearing me say yes, I'm saying no." She's trying to wrap them around her finger to make them follow her instructions: "Boys, boys, boys, they give me, give me, they give me, they follow my voice." To fulfill her commands, they need to use their brains, not their eggplants - as they say, and focus on her: "Use your head but not that one, one track mind." She behaves like a queen because she doesn't give anything from herself to them, but she takes what she needs. She doesn't care about what people say because "that's just me, take it or leave it, baby." She's so "cruel", but if someone is as famous and successful as Betty White, it's not a problem, right?
"Lifestyle so rich and famous, Robin Leach'll get jealous
Half a million for the stones, Takin' trips from here to Rome
But if you aint got no money, Take yo broke ass home."
Living the dream. Sitting poolside looking fancy af while hot guys serve you stuff. The picture is a definition of Lush Life. Betty White may as well be saying "if you aint got no money take your broke ass home" while she sits there. Glamorous is all about being super rich and famous and enjoying all the luxurious things in life, and it sells it with that metallic synth production which makes the song sound all plush and classy. I imagine this song was playing while Betty was getting that photoshoot done.

2. Millie Jackson - Young Man, Older Man
"Young man, older woman
Still they are falling in love.
You gotta be crazy,
you're much too young.
Havent you noticed,
you could be my son?"
This is just the ultimate cougar anthem. The male and female sings about their raunchy relationship, even though the woman is old enough to be her partner's son, much like Betty White is lusting over the shirtless, young men in the photo.

2.
Meaning: I mean...it's Betty White smiling coyly with scantily clad men. Basically, in general terms, the woman is very satisfied with the amount of man candy that she has at her disposal.
Song: This music video is such a trip . Anyways, this song is about how there are many men at The Weather Girls' disposal, hence why "it's raining men...Hallelujah." This song encapsulates the picture because first off, I can totally see a commercial with Betty White with all these men around her while this song is playing. Secondly and mainly, it fits because it's a very fun song just like the picture and the subject matter matches.
This picture shows an old lady with all the hot boys serving her everything she wants and she looks happy.
This song fits this picture so much. When all the works you did paid off, you get everything. You get money. And that what makes all the boys come to you

Image: 3
Meaning:
Thinking of a loved one/ Long distance relationship
Song:
Why song fits:
The song is about waiting for a loved one [family member or significant other], no matter how far they are, no matter where they are, you'll always be waiting for the day you're reunited with them.

Picture #3
In the picture, there is a young man travelling to an unknown place, representing coming of age.
In Shinedown's "Second Chance", he's getting out of the bubble that has protected him. It's time to say goodbye to his childhood and parent, move on, start a new chapter in his life and take responsibility for himself - as it happens in adulthood. He didn't know what he has until it's gone: "I watched the world outside, by the way, I'm leaving out today." He's thankful for everything to his parents, but he's not a child anymore and he's "not afraid" to follow his dreams: "This is my one and only voice, so listen close, it's only for today." He's not waiting for his mother and father - he's immediately leaving home, but he has a last message: "Tell my mother, tell my father, I've done the best I can to make them realize this is my life, I hope they understand."
"And while our blood's still young, Its so young, It runs
It won't stop till its over, Won't stop to surrender."
This picture, to me, is about Wanderlust. Its that time in your life when you're young and everything bores you and yet everything new excites you. You cant wait to get out and explore the world. Sitting in a train and looking out of the window at all the trees and cities passing by as you get lost to find yourself.
Sweet Desposition, one of my favourite songs of all time, is about this time of your life, when everything you experience shapes you. All the little moments, "A Moment, A Laugh, A Dream Aloud, A Kiss Goodbye, A Right, A Wrong". Its so hard to capture it in a picture but if one would try, it would be just this. You. Looking out at nothing specific. All these thoughts running in your mind as you fly through your life. Its about that feeling. When you feel everything at once, and you're self-aware, and alive, and at peace.

3. Ryn Weaver - Traveling Song
"I've never been on for goodbyes...
So, till I meet you there, I'm singing,
A traveling song to ease the ride and so you know.
Everywhere I roam,
I'll see you on the road."
This picture is interesting in a sense that it can be taken in many ways. When I looked at the photo, I saw a man on a train traveling through the country, with the sunlight shining onto his face. This reminds me of one of my favorite songs of all-time - the only one that can make me cry - Ryn Weaver's "Traveling Song." The song is about the death of her grandfather, and how when she's traveling from city to city on tour, she sees him in various places. The light in this photo reminds me of Ryn's grandfather - shining upon the man in the photo. He looks sad, yet a little comforted and reassured, which is why I chose "Traveling Song."

Meaning: This picture kind of reminds me of myself when I was doing my study abroad program in France last year and subsequently traveled all around Europe. The man in the picture is just peering into the new world that surrounds him by his train, wondering what is going to be out there and what fun he might have too.
Song: I wish this song came out when I was training around Europe. It would've been such a good song to play in my headphones while heading into the new destination. Anyways, I chose Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams because the song, to me, is about traveling into new, uncharted territories and seeing the wonders it has to offer. The man on the train is on that journey to that "head full of dreams." The picture shows him wondrously looking into the window, seeing what kind of world is out there, which is also what the song is personifying. The song is all about exploration where you can be whatever you want, which is what the picture depicts to me.
This picture represents a man travelling by himself. To me, he is travelling back to his home after all the problem he has faced.
The song tells me that no matter what happens in your life, you'll always have home to come back to.

1. URBAN
Image: 4
Meaning:
Young love/shared memories.
Song:
Why song fits:
I chose "When We Were Young" because the song is about reminiscing past memories with a loved one. More specifically, memories of when they were young.
2. prézli
Picture #4
In this black and white picture, there are two kids hand in hand, representing a memory of young love in the past.
Aura Dione's "Into the Wild" speaks about first love. She hasn't seen him in a long time and is wondering what he's doing now. She's become a different person because she's grown up: "I've become a stranger, but I want to let you in, so much has changed, I don't know where to begin." However, he will always be a special one (= a friend) to her because he was her first love: "I never felt any better than when you took my hand." She doesn't know when or how their love ended because they were too young back then and what will happen after that, but she will never forget him because he is a part of her childhood: "We live so fast, so fast and we got lost in the past." The title "into the wind" is a reference to the way time goes by.

Picture 4: Taylor Swift - Mary's Song (Oh My, My, My)
"She said, I was seven and You were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love and our mamas smiled And rolled their eyes
And said, 'Oh My My My..' "
This looks like a black and white picture taken a long time ago you're looking at, and it makes me think instantly of Childhood Love, more specifically, A love that literally lasts a lifetime.
Sometimes you meet someone when you're just little kids and have no idea what love is, but you share this bond which you know is special. Its untainted. Its innocent. And sometimes, if you're really lucky, it lasts a lifetime and you can look back on it, with your lives fully spent, and reflect on how beautiful it always was.
Taylor has a knack for fairy tale love stories, and she penned this song, crafting the ultimate love story, inspired by a neighbourhood couple who'd been together for 80 years. And even after all this time you still remember that moment like a picture unharmed through times when you were seven and he was nine, and you knew nothing about anything except the person next to you, and that was everything.

4. The White Stripes - We're Going To Be Friends
"Walk with me, Suzy Lee
through the park and by the tree
we will rest upon the ground
and look at all the bugs we found
safely walk to school without a sound."
This song is describing the thoughts of a little boy developing a crush for a little girl at school. They'll learn the alphabet and numbers together, walk to school holding hands, and when he gets home, he'll dream about the girl at night.
this is the perfect song bye

Meaning: This picture depicts some form of young love to me. Blissfully unaware of the world and its surrounding, the kids march along, holding hands because they like each other.
Song: REMEMBER THIS SONG?! I CERTAINLY DIDN'T WANT TO!!!!!! until this challenge... BUT I chose the Bieb's first single One Time. This song is cheesy as all hell, but it depicts the meaning of the picture with young love. Justin LOVES this girl and will do anything for her, blissfully unaware of the pitfalls that are soon to come in a young relationship. It's this type of young love that I thought best matched the picture because neither of them have anything about heartbreak since it's all about love and being happy.
This picture shows two kids in a pathway and it reminds me of my own childhood. When I was with my friends, going places, being happy, innocent and carefree.
It's pretty self-explanatory, but I chose "Cheers" because it's a celebratory feel good track! Lyrically it fits perfect with the image as well.

Picture #5
In the picture, there is a woman taking a bath water, relaxing and drinking champagne, representing luxury life.
"Fabulous," performed by Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel as Sharpay and Ryan Evans from High School Musical 2, speaks about chilling in luxury: "A dip in the pool, a trip to the spa." She says it's time to "relax and renew" with fabulous things (fashion, party, smile - "everything's got to be perfect") that can inspire "to help me get along" from stressful everyday life. Money can buy happiness with no limit: "Ice tea imported from England, lifeguards imported from Spain, towels imported from Turkey." Everything needs to be "bigger and better and best" to oust the old: "Goodbye clouds of gray, hello skies of blue." She isn't doing anything that is "a bore" or insults her. "She needs a little fabulous, is that so wrong?"

Picture 5: Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song
"Oh, today I don't feel like doing anything, I just wanna lay in my bed tub
Don't feel like picking up my phone, So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything"
"This picture looks so chill to me. She looks like she literally has no worries and has all the time in the world to just relax and drink that wine. She's in such a fun mood that she literally doesn't care about anything.
Bruno's song is exactly what i imagine would be playing in her head because its the most chill song ever made. Sure, there are things you have to do and you will get to them, but today youre just gonna do nothing.
Hell, I'm so chill listening to the song while writing this description that I dont even care enough to finish my

5. Countess Luann - Chic C'est La Vie
"AHair done, jewelry on oh mirror on the wall,
who's the fairest in the land, I guess its not his call
Beauty, Class, and Elegance, lie within the soul
Money, Power and Romance are waiting for us all."
This song is about elegance, beauty and riches. In the picture, you see the woman laughing, bathing, and sipping champagne while lying by the beach. I think the song is the perfect example of the vibe of the woman in the picture because the song is about class, elegance, and romance which the picture portrays. even if its terrible but slay that iconic gif tho!
5. rl231
5.
Meaning: This woman in the bathtub is relaxing and letting all her troubles happily slip away into the distance.
Song: I chose this song for mainly two reasons. First off, the remix of the song has an incredibly breezy feeling to it where you just want to sway and let it all go with a glass of champagne and a bubbly tub. Secondly, I feel like this song lyrically talks about letting your head go to a different place and release all your momentary troubles with it, which is what I feel the picture is depicting.
The picture depicts a relaxed woman with a champagne, which is normally a drink for celebration.
This song shows that despite having problems, we can shake them off and have a good time. Because life is about celebration!

1. URBAN
Image: 6
Meaning:
Empowerment/ Soaring /Coming out on top.
Song:
Why song fits:
I chose "Fly" because it's a female empowerment song that speaks about flying, soaring high in the face of every single adversity that comes your way.
2. prézli
Picture #6
In the picture, there is a female dancer performing on the stage. She's doing what she's the best at: dancing.
The Script's "Hall of Fame," featuring will.i.am, is about achieving goals. This self-empowering song makes us sure that we can be the greatest if we believe in our dreams. She has potential to be famous and inspire others because she burns "with the brightest flame." It was surely a long way to get out onto the stage, but it was worth it. If she keeps working hard, she can reach higher levels: "You can be the hero, you can get the gold, breakin' all the records they thought never could be broke." There is no stop until "the world’s gonna know your name and you’ll be on the walls of the Hall of Fame." The message is spoken twice and the song ends with it: "Don't wait for luck, dedicate yourself and you gon' find yourself."
"How can I make history with your choreography
Take your hands off me take your hands off me
Before I suffocate
I wanna dance without you, For once just let me lose myself."
This picture to me signifies freedom. Liberation of the mind and body from everything that held you back from being what you want to be. Its tough to go against the conventions to follow your dreams. Theres a part of you which is scared, its paranoid and thinks that it'll all be alright if you just play it safe. It takes courage to fight it, shed off the fear and go after your dreams.
Skylar Grey sings this song talking to her older self. This was the first song she released under this pen name, shedding off the name 'holly brook'. She felt chained and suffocated tied to her old self. This song is a declaration of freedom. Freedom of your true self from the fake version you've been portraying all this time. And the picture, in essence, captures the exact moment you decide to rise above the shadows and embrace your freedom.

6. Britney Spears - Circus
"Spotlight on me and I'm ready to break,
I'm like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage,
Better be ready, hope that ya feel the same.
All the eyes on me in the center of the ring,
Just like a circus."
Britney's "Circus" is about her being the center of everything, and being a girl who puts on a show for everyone. The girl in the photo is striking - the center of the photo, the center of the stage, in the center of the spotlight - she's everything in the photo like Britney is the center of attention and the ring.

Meaning: I feel like this picture is about someone that is young and a rising star. She'll do anything to try to grab attention to make sure that people remember her name and who she is.
Song: So I chose the Naturi Naughton version of Fame. I wanted something that was high energy and modern for my last song because that's what I thought the picture was going for. Also, with the song, she's trying to say that you will remember who she is and that there's more to come. Basically, she's a star in the making and her stock is about to fly, just like the girl in the picture.
The picture shows that she is on stage, which means she's now ready to face the world and not be broken or hide anymore.
To me, this song pretty much describe it. It's about showing yourself as you are, not being afraid -- just being free.
slimSHADY & thecptz will have to pick out new songs for the dupes I found right now hihi. But those who submit last get last choice so I don't feel too bad.
Luckily, both the dupes are in the second batch of results so nothing will be postponed for the panel.
Results will be given just like the Emoji round. I plan on doing Pics #1-3 on Sunday night (Judge Deadline is 10 PM PST) and then Pics #4-6 on Monday night (Judge Deadline is also 10 PM PST).
One of you will be eliminated in the same fashion as Vulnicura was last round and end the game in 6th place. Then the other 5 of you will head to Tribal Council. 4 will remain for R17 which will be the last round of this season.
Your song choice is what was most important this round. Don't worry about your explanation seeming too short or long because as long as we can gather your interpretation of the image, you're successful. It's just a matter of who has the best/most fitting interpretation for each image.
Thanks to everyone for sending entries in. I know there was a lot going on for a few of you this week so I appreciate you all still submitting one way or another.
