While I understand your argument in general, let me just nitpick a little even though mods have addressed the issue:
Rules are retroactive in the sense that any continuous entity in violation of them will be put to an end. Sure, you can't - for example - make up a new rule and then warn old posts to which that rule would apply, but this case is essentially like banning NSFW content and then closing down Dirty Talk.
