I don't see him and JT in the same light. The ones that do and start crap are the ones who want to want to feed their low self-esteem. JT and Ursh are worlds apart, musically and as people but you will always have people like that Usher obsessed JT stan here, spewing BS.
The voice of the minority is loudest, but its always the most irrelevant.
To be fair, he wasn't ever an innovator. That's not what he's known for. He's one of the few people who can make something interesting out of the bits and pieces that most overlook.
Being an innovator isn't the most important thing in music because most of the time, it could be seen as a fad, rather than innovation. What Usher does best is being Usher and that's not what he's been doing lately.

Do any of you ever get the feeling that he's just done with everything? He does want to retire young

I wouldn't be complaining if I thought it was just ATRL haters, but when I go to other forums they are saying the same thing, hell we have bloggers spewing the same nonsense. It just irritates me that when folks are talking about major artists, Usher is always the after thought. you hear people calling names like Beyonce, JayZ, britney, JT and no one remembers to add Usher's name. Rollingstone did the samething when they were naming best entertainers, then I thought it was an error, then when MTV did the exact same thing, it just got on my nerves. That's why I am mad at his PR team. We are in a generation where if your PR team doesn't market you with stories wheather true or false you might fade in the eyes of the public. I mean JT's put out stories mostly false and exaggerate his success, only few people know its bulls*t, but the general public eat it up. Hell we even have Black entertainers like Tank claiming that he brought R&B back...like wtf
I disagree with Usher not being an innovator. He has always been an innovator. No one was wearing Caps with letters on it till Usher. Usher made wearing a suit with sneakers cool..and lets not forget about his memorable haircut that everyone was rocking in the 2000's. Now he wears questionable clothes..he started with the red sneakers and when no one was that interested, he has now switched to the gold sneakers, then when pharrell's cap got attention he decided to do the same thing, when Fallon accused him of copying he didn't sound pleased, but what did he expect. He keeps doing the opposite of what made him lovable in the first place. I don't know who was dressing him that period, but the person was doing a really good job, I am guessing it was Tameka.
I don't know man, may be he is tired of the entertainment business, I don't know. I remember in 2004 when he said that he would love to stop dancing and invest in something beneficial to him, He opened a restuarant which he closed up in 2006/2007 so Justin Bieber was the answer to that, but since the ungrateful fool has messedup and disrespected him in public I just don't know.
I know it might seem like I am ranting, but after following Usher all these years and seeing how freaking talented he is, how his mom managed him to success and how this new Team are just messing him up is extremely painful to watch.
Usher said it himself that he is extremely stubborn and it takes someone who isn't afraid of him to push him to make right decisions. Jonetta was able to do that and even bully him into doing things that he isn't interested in.For example, remember the rollingstone interview he did ages ago and how his mom booked him for is it the VMA's or something and he was yelling at her on the phone that he told her he wasn't going and she wouldn't make him to, well guess what we saw that he walked the red carpet and was all smiles lol. Now its like he has "YES man" everywhere.

I agree. But you know those magazines are on JT's payroll. I honestly think Usher prefers how everything is right now. He seems to hate the attention and his life revolves around his kids. He'll get it together eventually.another problem is some of his stanbase. We all support him on here but some of them are truly terrible to him. Let's not lie to ourselves, he distanced himself because there was too much negativity. Some of his fans and stans are straight up selfish with him, they try to tell him what he needs to do and call his girlfriend ugly. I think people need to move on from it already. Focus on his music instead of complaining about every little thing he does. We aren't complaining we just have concerns for him but some people just stan for him because he's hot when he is so much more than that.

Y'all should read the comments on this blog...I'm telling u guys its not just atrl.
http://m.thatgrapejuice.net/2014/03/...co-love-album/
From the comments I'm reading here people are questioning his legendary status.
Nb: I will never understand why an usher fan will drag him in a blog site other than his own fan base thread.

Here is the thing, I have never had a problem with who he dates, but I have always had a problem with the nonchalant way he handles his music aspect of things. Usher needs a male manager next to Grace that isn't scared of him. As for the fans loving him for his hotness, that happens with every successful entertainer especially women, is it right...no however those are the type of people that make up more than half of a stanbase and they are actually desperate to buy the album even if its to see his face on the CD everyday on their pillow. Believe it or not most people paid attention to him when he cut his hair and walked the Oscar red carpet, he trended on twitter that day

That site one of the biggest piles of manure on the internet. I was one of Usher's fans who would've never thought to be on a forum talking about him and trust me, there are millions of us out there that don't go on blogsites expecting to rant about Usher's girl, life or his hair.
The vocal minority will always be there, no matter what he does. There's a part of man's life that needs to remain to himself and if he dedicates every ounce of himself to please others, he will burnout. When I see JT or Beyonce, I see faces of entertainers not people. When I see Usher, he looks like a real person and not just a facade. JT was brought up on Disney while Beyonce was a part of her own group. Usher came up on his own and does things his way. Some people prefer one over the other. I prefer seeing a real person, not a mask.
I know what you're trying to see, and I totally 100% agree with it. Usher needs to work harder, his brand is nowhere near what it used to be. People expected Usher to do minimum 300k with L4M first week, but what it all boils down to is management and marketing. All these sites say whatever they want and fake-fans/haters are gonna hate, but this has no overall effect on Usher's career. Usher's name is a business and its up to managers and higher ups to realize when their contribution to the office are redundant and that they their views don't fit the business anymore.
FYI, people on that same manure site were complaining during the RvR era too. About OMG, DJ, Hey Daddy, First week sales, everything. Some people will never be happy.

I hear you guys..may be I just wish we had more faithful usher fans like the my way-confessions era. Its like after that fiasco with him closing up his biggest fan site, all of them disappeared and now the negativity from other Stans over shadows the few people that actually defend him

It's mostly because he got older and his old true fans like us, got older with him. I wouldn't have joined ATRL at all but I did because I saw very few people talking good about Usher.
Usher didn't get big in his mid-20's or late 20's like say Katy Perry for example, most of us grew up with Usher's music through different era's. I was only 8 when 8701 was out and his music defined several things I personally went through and so did my friends. My 15 year old cousin is now an Usher fan ever since he heard L4M. His music crosses generations.
We grew up listening to him, we didn't become fans because we are glory hunters. I don't know if you guys watch football/soccer, but its the same thing there. When someone randomly gets big, a lot of people just hop on the bandwagon. True fans and supporters are very rare. That's why I said ignore the vocal minorities on websites like grapejuice. Anyone can post/troll there, there's no maintenance.

Fyi, I'm not trying to insult casual fans. Everyone who casually listens to Usher or likes 1 or 2 albums are just fine and needed in the industry. The problem is how there's a fine line behind being a fan and a casual listener, which in this case is everyone e-begging for Confessions 2014.

I understand where you're coming from and hopefully things change soon. I remember going on that fan site and they were all spreading rumors on there and calling his wife ugly I get not liking who he dates because his fans want to see him happy, but that was not the way to tell him.

Keeps things fresh. You leave when you're too overexposed and come back when people miss you enough.
He was overexposed by the end of the OMG tour. L4M came out too soon imo. Late 2012 would've been better.

Usher and Mariah should stay away from Jermaine Dupri, who still thinks it's 2006

That's what I like about him. He makes people miss him. I agree about L4M coming out too soon. He was everywhere in 2011. Promise was #1 on the Latin chart for over 11 weeks if he would have waited until the end of 2012, even early 2013 it would have smashed.

That's what scares me about him working with Ursh. I liked "Foolin' Around" on RvR but it sounded so dated compared to the stuff by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and others on the album.
