I've been meaning to really delve into j-pop besides the main artists. When you listen, do you value lyricism as much as you would in English (seek out English lyrics, etc.) or do you appreciate listening to it? The sound and production and vocals?

both. it's funny because I've been listening to japanese music since I was a kid. I find it beautiful. And I'm brazilian, english isn't my first language, so it's kind of the same for me. I can learn japanese lyrics just listening to the songs. It's as easy as learning an english song. But I also like to search for the lyrics and understand the things that I'm singing.

Not really pop but Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen have some of my favourite lyrics ever.

I only use Jpop for the main girls tbh. Namie, Koda (even though I don't like her new albums. Japonesque is her best album imo, everything after that was just okay), Ayu and Utada. I like Perfume and Kana Nishino too. I hope that Kana doesn't flop with her next album. It's just so sad how Japan ignores it's female acts. They deserve more love and more support from their media.

Kpop is great and I'm happy that I can enjoy both. I use Kpop for the Music Shows, Hyuna and Idol Groups.

The japanese music industry feels a bit outdated in my opinion. No shade but the Korean music industry is so much more fun.

I used to seek out and manually translate only ballads, but now that I can understand spoken Japanese to a large extent, some dance tracks sound even better. Though I'm against people who refuse to listen to j-pop because of the language (and laziness), the ability to perceive and appreciate all the elements is important.

This + most of "Time to Destination" is pretty good. And "eternity" is amazing despite being released in 2000.

J-pop peaked around the time of Koda Kumi's Black Cherry Album. Everyone was slaying back then, and that's when K-pop was still dead and all the forums online were about J-pop. Social media was basically non-existent, and so was YouTube. If only it was peaking now.

during a long car ride and omg it was giving me that good old LIFE!
If I had to complain though I'd say it's a little bit same-y, but it will grow on me.

It's a great album!

Well she's apparently finishing off her new album rn and Kingdom Hearts 3 is near us so..
