I agree with the water. It looks crap.
The Sky has been fixed I'm pretty sure.
In this picture, you can see the sky looks blurry and terrible basically.
yet in later footage (the same house is in the distance) the sky looks much better:

The actual graphics in this game are much better, but the Water, Sky and Grass (to some extents) are lacking.
I'm actually wondering that since the water isn't see-through in this game, that maybe that's the actual reason why we don't have pools. Not enough time to program see-through water? Water is one of the hardest things to design graphically (when you do it properly).
Otherwise you'd only see half the sims when they swim? They may have removed pools altogether cos they knew it looked crap? And then wait until they program actual water, not just a blue surface.
Food for thought I guess.
