The way people consume music is changing. Acts with a younger fanbase are gonna be more likely to hop on Spotify or be smart enough to know where to illegally download from. They're the ones that will go through previews of an ablum on iTunes/Amazon and choose what they like, take those songs and leave the rest. Ablum sales will go down and down whilst singles go up and up. As the years go by, the idea of an 'ablum' as we know it will become obsolete. We'll get smaller-scale releases but more often.
Em, Taylor, Drake, Adele etc have a much bigger mature audience that still go to the store as their main way of consumption for lack of better knowledge. But the next generation will know better than to go and spend out so much on ablum- simple as that.
You'll always have the core fanbase that will get everything their fave releases, still- but the GP will hollow itself away.
The fat, clown-faced, Madonna-hating tranny was stupid for not doing more with the 64POP app. Utilising that right could have really benefited her ablum sells.
