Back when I was a teen I was so scared of Madonna
I knew a couple of songs but I didn't know her persona. My parents were huge stans too, so I used to believe she was someone intended for adults It got worse when the local newspaper wrote an entire article about her sexual and religious antics after she kissed Britney. It was until 2008 that 4 minutes came out that I realized she was OK
in the early 00s when I was a kid there were a lot of MTV Madonna weekends. I remember feeling a bit awkward about watching her masturbate on stage while my parents were probably hearing it in the background (and being very much aware of it) Madonna's presence even on the screen alone is so intimidating, she reminds me of marlene dietrich meets sharon stone in Basic Instinct.
Yesterday I was out in town celebrating my birthday - instead of bopping to B-Day-Song I still had my M moment... some older man around 50 in a bar had the MDNA standard edition CD cover as display on their cellphone Then he even proudly showed it to the bartender who was like ... "so? Who is that supposed to be?" "Madonna"... "Oh yeah, I love Madonna too" :
