Shakira should do something special to get back the fan-base in Australia because she has been banned from radios. She needs to focus on AUS cuz she was huge there... 3 #1 hits (WW, UYC, HDL)...
And then back to the States to get more promo!!!
I don't know what's going on in Australia, but her Australian fans aren't happy at all! I blame Epic Records though!

Shakira has no support on radio nor digital downloads... Waka Waka was just released but just because of the World Cup popularity. She has no promotion at all since Oral Fixation vol 2.

Radio told that if Shakira didn't go to promote her music there, then, they were not going to play her tracks. And just like it's happening. Shakira doesn't even released She Wolf there, ans Sale El Sol is unknown there too. They played She Wolf on radios but the spins were limitated, then, when DIA was released, radio just ignored the song, and Gypsy run the same luck. She tried to get back the attention releasing Give It Up To Me but then again, limitated spins and since that, she's practically banned on australian radio.
I saw a Mariah Carey interview in Australia that was really interesting. (which was around 2005 - her huge smash comeback year which is sorta similar to Shakira's HIps Don't Lie)
Quote:
The Australian interviewer asked: So when are you coming to Australia again?
Mariah Carey: I love Australia, but we'll have to see if my album and single does well enough to convince my record label that it's worth it to come down to Australia. Obviously I'd love to go...
And I agree. A trip to Australia is way too costly especailly for an American and given the fact that She Wolf and Waka Waka and Loca all flopped here in Australia it's definitely logical that the company does not think it would be worth it for Shakira to come here.
But the only difference is Mariah's company promotes her here. There isn't even a stain of promotion around here about Sale El Sol or Loca or whatever, or even when Waka Waka was out, they refused to play it and only played Wavin Flag.

Ok, so this is what i posted to a music director at one of the biggest music stations in australia:
Hi amanda,
You're probably not gonna know this question, but Australian radio doesn't seem to support "Shakira" anymore. I mean she was BIG in 2002 and radio were so into her, but after Hips Don't Lie, it was like someone massive payed radios in Australia to stop playing her songs.
Also, Waka Waka was the world cup song and Australia is really into the world cup but not once have I heard that song on Nova or anywhere else. Any ideas??
Thankyou.
And she replied:
Great question. We havne't really been given anything from the record company from Shakira for a while. We did play her at Nights occastionally this year. We get so much music each week from all over the place... record companies, charts, independents and sometimes it's hard to play everything. But thanks for your feedback and keep the Shakira love going... yes she has amazing dance moves!
It's only a couple months until February 2nd, and you all know what that means...
... Shakira is going to turn 34!
For Shakira's 32nd and 33rd birthdays, I organized mass, world-wide projects asking fans across Shakiraholics, ShakiraMedia, and Shakira Rules forums, along with the Official Forum, to record themselves singing their traditional birthday tune, or the usual "Happy Birthday To You" song, in their native language. The results were smash hits, as I got tons of submissions in audio and video recordings, along with photos. Any audio recordings in the same language were even layered together for a chorus! The videos were sent to Shakira.
So as Shakira fans, we certainly want Shakira to have the happiest of 34th birthdays, especially this year with a new album and, of course, a new tour!
Here's what to do: Record yourself singing the traditional "Happy Birthday to You" song at the same pace as the tune in this video (sing along to it through headphones for best results). You can sing it in any language you wish, it can even be a traditional birthday song from your country instead, but only one submission per person! And of course, it's "Happy birthday, dear Shakira", or "Happy birthday, dear Shaki" for that part of the song, should you sing that tune.
You can also send a video of you singing your song, along with a brief message for Shakira. Photos of you with your Shakira collections or moments are also more than welcome.
