This happens every era. All we see everywhere on ATRL is half the Navy picking out their favourite random (sometimes not even radio friendly) single and saying:

Like.. calm down. Not every song of Rih's is going to go to the top. If it does, great, but sometimes the style of the song is not realistic to do that. People need to lower their expectations of a successful post album single! This isn't Teenage Dream.

The problem in this case is that Needed Me actually has what it takes to be a #1. It's been successful ever since the album dropped. Look where it is on iTunes and Spotify off of just early airplay and nothing else.
But I've been unsuccessfully trying to hold back the fumes ever since the dual release was confirmed, so don't mind me
This is her next number one for sure. It's also her best single in a longggg time. The pictures on her Instagram make it much better than KIB already...which was a major letdown tbh
