There’s a beautiful irony to the fact that someone so Hawaiian as Hoku, a surfer babe whose father is none other than Don Ho, would get her big break from the film Snow Day. This cheeky breakup anthem, in which Hoku dumps a boy who only values her hair color, served as the soundtrack single, and after it reached the top thirty on the Billboard Hot 100, she dropped out of college to finish her debut album, which reached an impressive #151 on the charts. “Another Dumb Blonde” is the first song on the countdown to receive ten 10’s, the most until the top five.
Best bit: the ethereal “That’s all right, that’s okay, I never loved you anyway”
The music video... is, strangely, set on a beach, not in any sort of snowy locale. But it includes what is surely one of pop videography's greatest breakups ever, whereby Hoku dumps her boyfriend via iMac.
