You guys don't want to address the main issue here. Police will never be able to predict every single possibility of how a fanatic will strike. Besides it probably all happened so quickly, in a matter of seconds. And shooting at the vehicle probably meant shooting at people that were in the way.

I don't want to address what? I spent all of last night talking about this..
The attack was made aware of. France closed their embassy knowing it was imminent. Armed forces have patrolled the country for the last eight months, especially at a heightened level during the Euros. They're now tired, and given that François just deployed 10,000 more clearly proves that more men were required to secure the country and the festivities.
A truck managed to drive 2km, killing 84, injuring 202 with 52 critical and 25 on life support.
How does that happen? It does need to be addressed, actually.
