Nothing reaches their heights afterwards; AFY has some perfect moments (title track, STCML), Damita Jo is a slight improvement over the former, but still leaves a lot to be desired. 20 Y.O. and Discipline, aside Call on Me and Feedback, are a mess.

I'm sorry but nothing Tops Rhythm Nation album wise. It's a concept from start to finish. Janet and VR are a little too all over the place. I'd put Janet and Control on part with each other and VR and AFY below those. The media keeps trying to force TVR on people and they aren't here for it like they were Control, RN, and Janet.

I agree with everything you said. Well except about 20 Y.O and Discipline. I think there's some gems there beyond those two songs.

Yeah, there are, but those are just the ones I instantly think of Control and Rhythm Nation are also great and enjoyable despite being a biT dated.

I just love the feel of AFY's album. Janet was freshly single and ready to have fun, but also ready to spill some dirt (YAR, SOAG, Truth) on some people. You can tell that after TVR she was ready to get back in the studio. Damn Superbowl...

STCML literally makes me feel so good. I feel like Damita Jo showed that she can't be bothered by some scandals. It was the perfect departure from AFY and she was unapologetic with her sexuality like she always is (Sexhibition, Warmth, Moist).

The media? No. The Velvet Rope is her best album. It's the biggest risk she ever took and it paid off amazingly well. It's a masterpiece.

Nope. It was a risk and I'd argue it didn't pay off. Sales were cut in half from the previous album. That's what I call a not very good risk. The numbers don't lie the media does.

I find janet. drags toward the end. I could do without WAYN and TBTLY and skip right to ATAP. That would make it a flawless album.
