I always knew and felt like Simone had solo ambitions. "Ugly Heart" picking up traction could have been a good thing for her and the group. I realize that one hit song doesn't translate to instant fame and a surplus of cash for all parties involved: but don't you agree that it's a step in the right direction? Don't you think that their financial situation could have turned around at some point if they kept promoting?
The label is the only one who knows for sure at this point whether GRL was draining them of their resources. My only intel was from a brief meeting with the girls and one of their label reps. The girls were sharing 1 make-up artist and 1 hair dresser. The "Ugly Heart" video was shot in roughly 24 hours straight with very few locations to keep the costs down. Their debut was an EP and not a full album. I'm sure GRL isn't as profitable as they could be, but the label's actions reflect that.

My post did come blunt, but it's the truth. And also I've aswell said the
same thing about Simone wanting to be solo.
You're right with them cutting cost down... but if they are cutting cost down and they are still not making money to cover those costs, than that's worse. You're correct when you said Ugly Heart blowing up could have opened gates for the group, and they would have magically became a worldwide hit. I hate to be pessimistic in a time like this, but after appearing in the soundtrack of a 350million box office movie (The Smurfs), having a single (Vacation) given for free if you bought Britney Spear's "Ooh La La", opening for Zedd, working with Bonnie McKee, Ester Dean, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Cirkut, appearing on Pitbull's single which is also their first Platinum single... I can't see their future being successful any time soon. It is giving me Becky G/Fifth Harmony type of success.
As much as I want the group to be profitable, I didn't see it happening anytime soon.
