Does anyone care about The Lone Ranger? Is that character relevant to today's generation? And isn't it a Western, a genre that only works when it targets older men? Maleficent is a beloved and relevant character. I saw a bunch at Halloween this year, and not just kids.
The songs I listed were hits during our time. How can you be a teenager in U.S., and never heard We Belong Together?

Um, it's easy. I'm not going to argue that WBT is not well-known in the US because it is. But if we're using your logic of 12 year olds knowing Mariah/Madonna songs then yes there are plenty of teens that don't know WBT since they would have been 3 years old when it was a hit (damn time flies by so fast).

And I'm not saying it because of Mariah. Most teenagers have heard any #1 hit from 2005, atleast ONCE. It was well within a timeframe of when they could turn on a radio and remember hearing something let alone the biggest hit.
I see a few Britney stans with Shakira avis (not from her newest D!nk-inspired video). They really thought she was gonna challenge Beyonce for them, didn't they?

I'm not sure what we're arguing here, I agree with you that WBT is well known. But the facts show that Madonna's discography is more remembered than Mariah's. Just look at their recurrent airplay.

And I'm saying recurrent airplay can still have a song be forgotten.
I could pull up a song from 1982 that got played 4 times randomly, then point out how "Thriller" hasn't been played in 2 months.
