I LOVE both of the songs you mentioned but no, the preview had nothing to do with them.
Replaying the preview. It sounds better now, it does sound like a Coldplay production though!

lol i was talking about the voice !! both SFTTR and FY have this awesome echo-ey voice that makes them sound so much more effective and bigger!! i dont know, but i definitely heard it..
and right? its sounds more coldplay than U2..
I think Scott was a little biased when he said it could be the song of the year or something. He seems to be a huge U2 fan. So the similar sound of this song probably slayed him hard. That does not mean it will slay the GP.
