I disagree. I feel like streaming is taking over because the quality of music is declining and people don't feel it's worth it to pay for music.
Uptown Funk was released when digital sales were already **** and it's like what 6-7x platinum?? Why? Because people actually liked the song and didn't listen to it just because it's new on always on the radio so they were used to it.
Shake It Off is also almost 5x platinum and Blank Space also sold a lot (I assume its 3-4x platinum).
Big hits can actually still sell, I just don't think America has been having any big hits. Understandable even. I've never heard Can't Feel My Face in full and I haven't heard The Hills at all but they apparently both spent weeks atop the Hot 100 when they don't even feel like hits to me. See You Again and Uptown Funk so far have been the only memorable #1's since Blank Space
