Billboard re-did the formula for charting. It's one of the reasons Bieber sold 500K in one week and still didn't debut #1. So it's not guaranteed that YB will debut higher than NMT at all.

i feel as though Wide awake craps over any of her #1s but it still peaked at #2.

You can't compare like that, honestly. Things change week-by-week and it depends on the pool of song, weight of competition, etc. Plus as mention the formula is significantly different than 2 years ago. Also it didn't last "much" longer if you really look up. They're runs are nearly similar.
