If it were any other fan base and Katy Perry had tried their fave, you know Katy would be dragged to the pits of hell (and rightfully so) every single day in here. OT: Worst music acts of all time:
1- FKA Twigs
2- ED Sheeran
3- Janelle Monae
4- One Direction
5- Bjork (I kinda feel bad for giving her this position since I LOVE IOSQ and she's kind of a fashion icon, but all her other music is noise and she birthed all of these terrible "indie" females that try sooooo hard).
It's cause she is still trying all the time with pop songs like XO, Pretty Hurts, Run The World, Countdown, etc. So you're only reminding them of her many flops. The focus on urban music is a backup plan to at least achieve some single success. Urban radio is such trash that you can go top 5 there with anything as long as you're a big name. So by focusing on it she turns this unremarkable, default success into an achievement, pacifying her fans somewhat.
Hm. I guess I've never seen it from this perspective.
But I don't really count singles like "Pretty Hurts" and "Run The World" as pop. It's bad Top 40 alternative, at best.
But still, your post has been more than a little eye opening, something Renée Zellweger can kind of do now.
The Swifties that try and defend her in SYG aren't smart enough to come up with any good drags, I wouldn't confuse that with them being humble, they sure try it

X&Y has better highs than Mylo but as a whole I like Mylo more because X&Y can drag on a bit imo. Ghost Stories is amazing as well but it feels a little on autopilot if you know what I mean.
Midnight is one of their absolute bests tho and I wish they'd make an album full of songs like it

I think all of their albums are amazing except for A Rush of Blood to the Head. I only like half of the album. Lol.
