It's not because of my own personal experiences. I come from a family with money (high socioeconomic class). I'm doing well for myself and will continue to improve because I'm still not where I want and need to be; however, I just find it very hard for people like Tyrone in the hood to overcome institutionalized racism and the system that was built to keep people like him down and actually make it. Of course there are going to be outliers who go against the norm, but overall I do feel like the trend of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer and the powerful ones with voices will continue to be heard all the while the oppressed ones whom voices go unheard will continue.
I do feel like we should focus on closing that gap though, but I also feel like it's going to take more than just a boost of black owned businesses. We need to start making sure we are represented in positions of power such as government offices and the chamber of commerce.

I definitely agree with you. It's hard for unprivileged people of any kind, but especially for black people. The underlying problem is the unprivileged aren't given the resources on how to overcome this issue and make something out of nothing. They'd have to go on their own and search, but a lot don't because they don't know how to or even what to do. The internet is a lovely thing which many, including myself, need to take advantage of. You can learn so much from it and gain a ton of success by solely using it.

Capitalism is also a lovely thing because like I said, everybody has the opportunity to make something out of nothing, but many do not realize since they are simply uneducated regarding the concept of it.

I'm watching Oprah right now. I miss her show.

I remember I'd always run home after school just to watch it.
