They probably wanna go the Russian Roulette path considering Rihanna's ballads perform better outside US - the same case applies for Te Amo and Flopstar (a ballad outside US and the more uptempo one internationally).
A performance at ACM maybe a market test to see how people would react to CKB. They obviously don't wanna pull a Russian Roulette and flop in US. Maybe if public embraces CKB, they'll go for CKB is US too. We shall see.
But this is a very retarded situation. CKB is a worldwide single material, US shouldn't be excluded.
