Good + talented rock bands don't get overshadowed by One Direction. The people interested in rock bands know rock bands, and they don't care about One Direction.
Born This Way was a FLUKE, it's sales were heavily frontloaded because she was in Good Standing at the beginning of the era. However, by the end of the era people stopped liking her. She never transitioned past Pop's Biggest Freakshow into someone who has a great discernible talent that overshadows her gimmicks.
Artpop is HALF baked as far as quality goes, she can still come back even though that chance is becoming slimmer the more she's dragged via Media.
