Actually, I think that referring to songs based on their positions can be made up according to the person who's saying it.
There's no set in stone of how to refer to a song's peak.
Heck, I hear people referring to songs that reached #1 on BET countdown as "Number 1 Hit"
so it definitely isn't that important how you refer to a song's peak position.
I didn't think it was awful... She's a beautiful girl, although she doesn't really have the star power that Rihanna does to carry that song - yet. She has a really nice voice though!

Basically, what i'm saying is that
if yeah 3x is being worshipped for its "chart topping", then S&M will too,
people will be referring to S&M as a great song, that broke records, no matter what. Shouldn't be so hooked up on whether it's referred to as a "Top 5" "Top 2" or even the occasional time it'll be referred to as a "#1" So bee proud of what its accomplished even if it isn't a Billboard Hot 100 #1
