It was messy because she only had one promo slot on her release week, and as much as she wants to capture an older audience, she can't forget her core one which are kids/teenagers. She did not promote on daytime shows like Today Show or Ellen.

There's gotta be that awkward era were you leave the kids behind to play with the big girls tho. She's had plenty of radio support, videos, magazine cover that got a lot of website hits, SNL (that has a huge audience etc).. It would have been fine if the adults were fully here for her, but they're not so you get 70-80K.

It had to happen someday. She can't cater to kids forever.

She's fine tbh, she gained a huge amount of respect from a quite big audience, which is more important than 10k more sales so
She's definitely moving in the right direction career wise.
