I always admired Simone's spirit, fierceness, and her name! Battle is an awesome last name. I'm very saddened by her death, but she will remain part of this world as long as the people who love and/or were inspired by her remain. RIP Simone.
Y'all may not know her but this artist called Starshell just posted a big Facebook post about Simone and how we need to break the silence about mental health
Ugh, listening to 'Ugly Heart' gets me feeling weird inside idk. It turns into something emotional for me :/
I miss Simone. A lot. I really followed GRL for her because i followed her since XF, she used to reply to me and everything It's so unfortunate no matter how she passed cuz she's gone now..
You clearly do not know much about depression if you are convinced that any semblance of commercial/monetary success is a cure for it.
I think that's not what they were saying.
It must have been depression, because things were going so well for her and she had such a promising future, but she just couldn't see that. Really really sad.
Natalie Mejia (ex-Girlicious member who was going to be on the original PCD 2.0/GRL lineup before getting pregnant & replaced by Queen Emmalyn a few years ago) posted these too in the last few days:

I'm so deeply saddened by the loss of one of the most talented young women I've ever met. I first met her 10 years ago as a teenager following the same dream as myself and have always had such an admiration for her beautiful and creative soul. We were a small part of each others journey and here on earth and she will be missed so very much. Sending love to the battle family and all of her friends fans and loved ones. RIP simi simi coco pop
G.R.L. SINGER SIMONE BATTLE MONEY PROBLEMS A FACTOR IN SUICIDE
Quote:
G.R.L. singer Simone Battle had been struggling with financial problems before committing suicide ... TMZ has learned.
We know friends and family members told law enforcement ... Battle was depressed over money issues recently -- the family wasn't specific but they were clear ... money was bringing her down.
I'm not surprised, people think music industry is instant money. Truth is, GRL was probably already in debt to the label...and they hadn't even released an full length album yet.

This business is crazy.
Maybe. Hard to say. Most of these acts always have a debt from the get go, but they would've been dropped a while ago if the label thought they weren't breaking even. But "Ugly Heart" was taking off (especially in Australia).
The saddest part is thinking that Simone took her own life over something like useless like money. It always comes and goes

TLC member Lisa broke it down easy.
Grammy award winning 10-million album sales group, was in debt with only three members. So with five members it's much more.
Anyone remember this?
An interview from Rihanna's old album:
Quote:
Her new album has 11 songs on it. So figure that the writing camp cost about $18,000 per song.
The songwriter and the producer each got a fee for their services. Rock City got $15,000 for Man Down, and the producer got around $20,000, according to Daniels.
That's about $53,000.00 spent on the song so far before Rihanna even steps into the studio with her vocal producer.
They worked with some prestigious people in the music industry - example Cirkut, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Ester Dean, all on their five-track EP. Now I wonder how much that cost.
