From the reactions I was expecting something terrible, it really isn't that bad at all.
The fact the chorus has been substituted for an instrumental break is what gives this song it's brownie points, imo. I agree with the user that said the trumpets felt a bit flat, I agree they needed something else to spark it up a little, but for the most part I enjoyed their inclusion. Tinie's verse was one of the best parts of the song for me, not necessarily for him but for the production that accompanied his lyrics, since the transition from the trumpets to his verse was smoother than the trumpets to the second verse.
I really need that mashup of "Thrift Shop", "Talk Dirty", "Problem" and "Crazy Stupid Love", though.
I hated Call My Name at first but after like 5 listens, I was hooked. People need to listen to a song more than once before they decide if it's good or not. I'm on my 3rd listen and the experience is far better than the first.
It's ok, not as awful as everyone was saying and overreacting but yeah it does fall a bit flat.
I'm disappointed because while Promise This and Call My Name grew on me and I ended up loving them, they both had more of a hook. IDK if this will be the smash she needs rn.
