I've been reading some reports and interviews about Nintendo's future plans etc. It looks like they're actually readying for a unified home console/handheld system à la iOS.
Sounds like something that could really work in this age of smartphones and tablets.

The world is not ready for another NES/Gameboy and DS/Wii revolution.

Oh my god I just had an idea! Imagine if instead of a game console they do their own cellphone running on android that is modded to make the apps menu look like a wii menu that's bundled with a removable controller. It would have the normal google play store and a nintendo app store. There would also be a card reader on the side for DS and 3ds games and also whatever new things they use to store the games. It might happen in the near future, I mean phones today are powerful enough to play DS games smoothly.

There's no way Nintendo will start producing a phone with Android, they're way too arrogant for that

I can see them going back to a single screen device with a proper touch screen that could also be a controller for an upcoming console. It's time for Nintendo's 'less is more' era. No gimmicks, just good online services, quality games and lots of DLC.

Kid Icarus: Uprising (you might hate the controls on this one, idk)

Are all good starting points. The new Kirby game is supposed to be good too and it's being released on May 2nd.

Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus Uprising, Pokemon, Super Mario 3D Land, and Legend of Zelda: ALBW are great for everyone.

Rune Factory 4, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Bravely Default are a bit more niche but also wonderful titles.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Professor Layton are personal faves.

There's also Kirby: Triple Deluxe (next week!), Tomodachi Life, and Smash Bros coming to slay us this summer.

Kirby's going to have a great multiplayer that supports download play.

Kid Icarus: Uprising has a fun multiplayer battle mode.

Monster Hunter is cool with friends.
