11.8 mio is outstanding for NBC, especially with a 5.1 rating for the 18-49 demographic.

I didn't expect it to be that successfull. The Legend never fails to suprise me.

There goes the argument on here that it ***** on Idol.
The ratings don't lie. Idol premiered with 27 million

Paula Abdul's dance show that got canceled opened up with 10.8 million and ended up with 5 million viewers .

Premieres in the US usually drop a couple of million after the hype dies down. If it it can stay around the 9 million mark then it has a chance. It is a good show. I think if it does well it will damage The X factor more than IDOL. The X Factor has a lot of similarities with The Voice.

You can't compare AI with The Voice, because AI is in it's 10th season and a household name in American history, while the latter one is in it's first season and has yet to build up an audience that tunes in weekly. Look at the first season of AI, it started with 9 mio and after a couple of seasons it was at 30 mio. At this point "The Voice" is definitely a suprise hit and a surefire bet to even better ratings for the next episodes.

Chrissy is definitely the center point of the show and I love her to death.

I don't like Blake, tbh.

Christina's team has the best contestants as for now, except for that lesbian. She should pick some younger vocal powerhouses though.

The Voice kicked off on a high note Tuesday night.

The Mark Burnett-produced singing competition improved NBC’s season average in the time period by 89 percent. With a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 11.8 million viewers overall, it is the top-rated series premiere on a major network since CBS’ Undercover Boss debut following the 2010 Super Bowl.


The Voice - which features Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – was the No. 1 show of the night out-rating ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and a new 90-minute Lady Gaga episode of Glee. In head-to-head competition, The Voice bested Glee 4.6 vs. 3.4 (from 9-9:30) and Dancing With the Stars 4.9 vs. 3.5 (from 9-10 p.m.).
