In Just a little over a year, she has sold 5 million albums. Not to mention, Rihanna has sold over 20 million albums since debuting, far more than any other female in that time-span.

So yes - Rihanna has more than "solid" album sales. She has superb sales

All that being said, 10 million worldwide is a stretch to say of ANY album from ANY artist this early in it's stages - since that's like a once in a lifetime achievement these days. And honestly, I could see Rihanna benefiting more from just releasing a brand new album 4th/1st quarter than doing the stretch-out singles/re-release method.

But Loud is easily a huge blockbuster already at this point.....arguing over whether it will reach X or X is rather pointless

Just because Loud started better than GGGB doesn't mean it will outsell GGGB for sure. Time changes everything. Rihanna is way much bigger than she was 4 years ago. I'm not surprised that she started very well this era but 10M is about the longevity. GGGB had a re-release, 7 hits, heavy promo and 2-3 years to get there. It's NOT impossible but very difficult

^I agree. Loud does not deserve to be tortured through a re-release. (Re-releasing albums should be banned.) I hope it can pull 6 million world wide, and that's probably all it's going to get when the era is done with. To expect 10 million in 2011 is just plain stupidity. Good Girl Gone Bad could pass that in a few months to a year, but Loud isn't going to.

No one said that Loud would sell 10 million without a re-release. A good percentage of mainstream pop albums get re-released nowadays.

Re-releases brings more sales, extended tours, more endorsements etc. And the songs are typically left over songs from the initial album recordings. It's a profit making machine and makes good business sense.

There were many people who were implying it.

I just personally can't stand re-releases. I already bought the freaking album, I'm not going to do it again. And if you're going to do the same thing Lady Gaga and Ke$ha did, you might as well just a release a brand new album. It also sucks because usually the albums that are getting re-released have much more single material on them.
