Re-releases brings more sales, extended tours, more endorsements etc. And the songs are typically left over songs from the initial album recordings. It's a profit making machine and makes good business sense.

There were many people who were implying it.
I just personally can't stand re-releases. I already bought the freaking album, I'm not going to do it again. And if you're going to do the same thing Lady Gaga and Ke$ha did, you might as well just a release a brand new album. It also sucks because usually the albums that are getting re-released have much more single material on them.
