I love how Vigilant Citizen is a living paradox of the ideas he preaches. He's become so cynical that he's forced himself to believe that everything music related must have a connection to satanism, and that he is unable to see other interpretations of lyrics. Whether artists intend to or not, lyrics have so many meanings. There are so many ways to look at things. For example, I always thought the whole point of Bad Romance is that she doesn't want to be abused. That's why she burns the man in the end of the video. Bad Romance juxtaposes the literal meaning of its lyrics with its symbolic meaning. I think that's what GaGa intended.
Another example: he always claims goats are Baphomet - who isn't even the devil, but a pagan entity not associated with religious evil or control. The modern day "Baphomet" is a corruption caused by pamphlets and literature from the nineteenth century. In any event, the white goats COULD represent the devil, sure. He has evidence, although it's weak. Fair enough. But he ignores that the room is white, the goats are white. They represent the triumph of purity (white). They are high up on the wall, watching. As he claims, they are untouched by the fire at the end - because it's a representation of purity, how it's the moral "high ground." Goats also typically represent childhood and innocence.
Vigilant Citizen claims that he is reading into symbolism, when he's actually just repeating the literal meaning of the lyrics. That's not finding symbolism. That's taking literature for face value, and that will never lead you to the true meaning of something. You need to see the nuances in order to make conclusions about symbolism. VC needs to go and take an advanced English course, and he can become a little less narrow minded, hopefully.
