I don't understand how people are always saying their culture, their identity, their whatever is being stolen/appropriated and then you turn around and see them imitate certain aspects of other cultures. Like at this point, every culture borrows and celebrates other cultures. Black people are literally the ones who seem to be the most sensitive about everything.

This 100%. I'm really confused at this "backlash".
Are we not all humans? Should white people just not pay attention to black culture?
Music is all about being influenced by different factors. I think anyone is allowed to be inspired and influenced by anything.....we should be celebrating all cultures together, not putting up walls around specific ones and only saying it's okay for a specific demographic to partake.

Am I the only one who sees that Justin never really appropriates black culture in his music? ![rip](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/rip_zpsec10ede9.gif) Music should never be segregated and can and should be enjoyed by all IMO.
What people need to understand is that there are MANY people, mainly white people, who aren't educated or knowledgeable as to what the BLM movement is all about. Most people, except for a small sect of idiots, think that no one should be segregated or discriminated against because of the color of their skin, which is great that they think this. However, people say All Lives Matter because they think that Black Lives Matter means that only black lives matter, which is misconstrued and lost in translation. In other words, Justin is misguided but not the person you all should be attacking.

This doesn't make any sense, is quite embarrassing, and is ripe with the highest level of ignorance and shamefulness possible. Asian people, and ALL other minorities, wouldn't be where they are in America if it wasn't for the struggle and hard work the ancestors of African slaves endured to be considered equal citizens - getting laws passed for Civil Rights - which in turn, benefited and helped Asians and all other minorities. Stop acting as if Asians don't complain about anything, as if all the hoopla about being underrepresented in entertainment, doesn't happen despite all that "hard work". Stop trying to act as if complaining about prejudice, and needing acceptance and equality, is something to be ashamed of, and mocked for. That's really pathetic.

Asking them to go back to where they came from is not only insulting and disgusting, but it's also highly ignorant of the black history in this country.
Black people do not actually have a record of where in Africa they came from. There are many different nations and tribes, and when they were brought to the United States, their families were broken up. There are very few African-Americans who can say where their people came from in Africa because their families were so broken up, they do not know where they originated from.
Black people continue to be angry because they helped to build this nation just as much as any white person did. Y'all conveniently forget that when white people got to the United States, there were people here before they were - and when they needed work to be done, they brought black people to do it for them. Much of this empire was built on the backs of African slaves - why should their descendants not prosper from this country as much as the descendants of their tormentors?
As for the notion that black people have achieved true freedom since then, that notion is false. It was only fifty years ago, that black people were supposedly given the "privilege" of even being in the same room as white people and access to the same services white people received freely. In the face of all that, we still have a nation where the murder of black people by their public servants is permitted without consequence. Black people are also still targeted and given harsher sentences when it comes to jail.
And all of this because some people have this perception that black people are lesser because they have a darker complexion - something that is only the cause of having some more melanin, some more protection against the sun.
Why do people continue to whine about black people standing up for themselves in a nation where black people are never given the help afforded to white people? As for other races, they may feel free to stand up and speak for themselves. You would not demand a person with cancer advocate for people with HIV - why demand black people to stop speaking for themselves and give their voice to other races? I would also point out that this nation did not utilize Asian and Latino slaves the way they did black slaves. That doesn't change anything with regards to how they should be treated, but I would just point out that this nation white people think they built on their own? Yeah, they had an idea of what they wanted it to be - but they used black hands and black tears and black sweat and the blood of black people to get the job done. Now white people don't wanna give black people the dues they deserve. And still y'all call this a land of the free, a home of the brave and promise liberty and justice for all? You only promise those things to white people and everyone else gets left in the dust.

This should be pinned at the beginning of every race thread on ATRL. The tea is just too much!

Asians are under-represented in the western entertainment industries for superficial reasons. Not because they're not working hard enough. Look at white collared, tech, etc industries where looks and skin color doesn't matter. Asians excel.

Sorry if black people rather speak up about their injustices in America than to sit around like some wimps and say that "we work hard." Plenty of black people work hard, hence why we have a black President and still no Asian one. ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif)
