I think most performers know how to handle a situation like this in a professional manner, that's one example...even Iggy on DWTS a few years ago, and this performance of Kelly where her in-ears literally weren't working the whole performance and she couldn't hear herself at all

She'll be fine. I do think that she needs to change her habits and come out with an album that she can sing live. I think it would do wonders for her image if she said "I cannot always sing like I did when I was in my 20's and neither can any of the other women I'm so honored to call my peers"
Like it would show that she's aware and also remind people that Mariah isn't alone. Celine often lip syncs, Whitney did it lots of times, Beyoncé does it. I think straight talk and refusing to even seem shady would also help.
