9. Robin Thicke Known for: "Lost Without U", "Blurred Lines" Favorite song:Blurred Lines Why he slays: Well, I only really care for Blurred Lines from him, but we've all heard it at least 105,585 times on the radio this year. We saw how he absolutely demolished chart and airplay records with the single with a perfect blend of promo, controversy and addiction.
8. Avicii Known for: "Levels", "Wake Me Up" Favorite song:Wake Me Up Why he slays: Okay, I'll admit that this space is a filler as well , but I did prefer WMU over Blurred Lines. We heard of him in 2011 when his instrumental-only sleeper hit backed Flo Rida's Good Feeling and now Wake Me Up slayed the charts and even combined genres.
7. Eminem Known for: Everything Favorite song:Lose Yourself Why he slays: Eminem came back in full force this year with a sudden return that brought massive album sales and two hit singles, especially his smash The Monster with Rihanna. Though I wasn't really into his latest release, everyone else seemed to be and his impact is undeniable.
6. will.i.am Known for: Black Eyed Peas, "Scream & Shout" Favorite song:Gettin' Dumb (ft. 2NE1) Why he slays: He actually put out a nice solo album (for once) this year and had some nice singles from it, too. Too bad he snubbed a few songs that could've smashed and didn't release a Fall Down video.
5. Pitbull Known for: Every single he's ever released Favorite song:Feel This Moment (feat. Christina Aguilera) Why he slays: His album from last year was actually really underrated and all the singles he put out this year to continue on the era have been absolutely spot on, especially Feel This Moment and Timber.
4. Kanye West Known for: KimYe, Gold Digger, Stronger, Taylor Swift, his ego Favorite song:Runaway (feat. Pusha T) Why he slays: He put out a really crazy album this year and made an even bigger mark in the rap game. He put so much truth and aggression into Black Skinhead and New Slaves alone that it's insane. I'm not even going to comment on his personal life.
3. Justin Timberlake Known for: N*SYNC, acting career, Cry Me A River, SexyBack, 2013 comeback Favorite song:LoveStoned/I Think She Knows Why he slays: Even though both 20/20 parts can't even touch the flawless album FutureSex/LoveSounds, they still made a massive impact in the year. The first part had massive sales and two smash singles. His comeback was easily the biggest of the year.
2. Jason Derulo Known for: "Whatcha Say", #11 iTunes peak, Jordin Sparks relationship Favorite song:?!?!?!? Why he slays: Jason put out yet another amazing album and started doing better in terms of single sales and peaks. Now he's huge in the UK as well. He also enhanced his performance skills even more and continues to slay me when I least expect it.
1. Bruno Mars Known for: Romantic singles, sex appeal, old-fashioned style Favorite song:Locked Out Of Heaven Why he slays: Unorthodox Jukebox, released in October of last year, still managed to be a massive success throughout the year. It also spawned three massive singles (and one soon to come, as well as one moderate one,) and he just absolutely took the year for me. JT may have been bigger, but Bruno did it all and then some.
9. P!nk Known for: Her performances, longevity, bad ass attitude and most of her hits Favorite song:Just Like A Pill Why she slays: I saw her tour this year and she was absolutely amazing. All her single choices for this era have been pretty spot on sans True Love (though the song is still great.) Such a stand-out year for her.
8. Britney Spears Known for: Her whole career, even BJ Favorite song:?!?!?!?! Why she slays: The quality of her music may be going down a biT but her album and singles are still enjoyable, even though both needed some extra listens to grow on you. She doesn't deserve to flop this hard, though. Though after her long and amazing career, there's little she needs to prove anymore.
7. Sara Bareilles Known for: "Love Song", "Brave", Brave/Roar controversy, Grammys surprise(!) Favorite song:Gravity Why she slays: Her new album is absolutely beautiful and she only needed ONE SINGLE this whole entire year asdhjsudj. Everytime you thought the song would fade and she'd get single #2 up and going, Brave would get another boost from a performance or some other situation.
6. Taylor Swift Known for: Her whole career + all her relationships Favorite song:I Knew You Were Trouble Why she slays: She has been slaying on tour all year long while releasing some nice single choices for Red, even though nothing after the fourth single made a really big impact.
5. Skylar Grey Known for: Her collabs with Eminem + Diddy, unique + dark style Favorite song:Beautiful Nightmare Why she slays: I was absolutely floored by her album. I've been waiting for Skylar to release something for years, but I never knew she'd come this hard. If only people would care and acknowledge her more.
4. Avril Lavigne Known for: Over a decade of being a pop-rock mother****in' princess Favorite song:I'm With You Why she slays: Despite abysmal sales, Avril's self-titled album might just be her best yet. There's so much replay value and addiction involved and pretty much every song is enjoyable.
3. Katy Perry Known for: Her melons, nearly every single she's released, Russell divorce Favorite song:Hot N Cold Why she slays: PRISM may have needed a second listen to fully catch on for me, but I definitely loved it. Plus, the singles chosen so far are pretty much perfect. She unexpectedly came out on top in a brutal battle against Lady Gaga.
2. Lady Gaga Known for: Her outfits and gimmicks, "Poker Face", "Just Dance" Favorite song:Bad Romance Why she slays: Speaking of Gaga, here she is! I don't care what anyone says: ARTPOP might be her best album so far. It's just absolutely amazing and it leaves little to complain about. There have been plenty of messy outcomes and events that have happened and are still going on in this era, but the quality of the music and performances outshine the flaws.
1. Miley Cyrus Known for: Everything from 2013, "Party in the USA", Hannah Montana Favorite song:Time of Our Lives Why she slays: Miley, out of all people, took 2013 and made it her bitch. She made it her absolute task to pull controversial stunt after controversial stunt and it worked out in her benefit. Her album sales were great, she finally got her first #1 and the world can't stop saying and typing her name. She may have received a ton of new haters, but her mastermind plan worked and nobody was more talked about than Miley.
My faves from the males are Robin, Avicii and Eminem! Bruno Mars is great too, with this album, because his previous one was so bad for me lol
Miley and Gaga! I love them
