GaGa & Katy debuted within 6 months of each other, so yes her mentioning GaGa just put holes in her argument. Beyonce has years above Rihanna.
But it doesn't matter, Katy & Rihanna are both middle-of-the-road album sellers in the US, while Bey & GaGa or not.

I don't think he knows you're a "she" since most of the posters on here are males.

Katy's album is pure pop while Rihanna has urban support.
Fact is that Rihanna is on her 5th album, has million US and WW hits and collaborations. I can't say the same for Katy.

Having 3 songs out of 11 thats urban friendly doesnt make your album "urban". And it shouldnt matter how long you have been in the industry. If people can buy your single, they can buy your album as well. There is no law against it. Nobody is gonna be like "oh this bitch has only been out for 3 years Im not buying her album". If they like it, they'll buy it.

I don't want to continue this pointless discussion. Why are you quoting only my post? You should reply to your fellow fan (the one who started it) and tell him to stop because I'm sick of going through threads seeing these Katy/Rihanna comparisons. #peace

Teenage Dream has sold 1.3 million albums in the US, 3 million worldwide. 13.9 million digital singles in the US from this era, alone, all of them huge worldwide. I say she's doing just fine. People are buying the album, the singles, and her tour's huge.

With ~4M albums sold WW after 3 singles, the performance of LOUD has exceeded my expectations and everyone else's, whether or not they admit it. But the US resistance is a bit baffling.

I don't think so. This is typical Rihanna. Her music is better received in other parts of the world than the U.S. I think this will continue to be the case for her.

If she was as succesfull in the US as she is WW, she would be just untouchable. She is a world artist from Barbados, we cannot expect that the US public will embrace her as they do with local artists.
But she can call the UK home

But U.S. has no issues with supporting other foreign artists.

they do..... its very hard for foreign artists to smash and last so many years. They can have a smash album, but they usually don't have much lasting power (Spice Girls, Leona lewis, etc.)

well generelly not, but look at her big female competition: Gaga, Brit, Katy, Ke$ha ... born in the US

But she has 9 #1 hits in the US. Her songs are all over the radio. Her music is everywhere in America.

those are not pop acts. Pop acts don't have very stable fanbases
