I never liked and never understood how people can play games like Final Fantasy I mean, from what I've seen, they're a mess and so over the place. I don't like RPGs in general, unless some elements of RPG are incorporated into other action-adventure games (Far Cry 3, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, etc.) That slays.

You should really, REALLY play X.
I bought the HD version & it's still amazing years later
^ You're missing out on The Witcher, one of the best games/RPG as of late.
However, I think the last FF (LR) was more accessible than the other games, because of the mechanics. I'm not the biggest RPG player but FFXIII brought me back into FF after not bothering with XII and kinda giving up on the series. Almost everyone hates those 3 games from FF (FFXIII, FFXIII2, FFLR) but I love them.. I got attatched to the characters from the 3 games so I'm not really looking forward to the next one, but I'll play it anyways in hopes that they'll surpass expectations again…

RPGs are just another genre that you'll either hate or like, tbh. FFX does have a beautiful story though. I'd either play X or IX to get started in Final Fantasy.
