I'm not trying to downplay the success of 1998 at all, but the extremely high # of sales is largely due to the fact that there were 5(?) different Polaroid sets in the physical copies that were completely random and a lot of people would buy several copies to try to collect all the sets. I know two different people irl who did this. I mean, if people care that much about Taylor Swift Polaroids, enough to spend their money to buy 5+ copies, it was their choice to do it, so Taylor still deserves all the credit of being able to get people to buy her album. But...yeah.

Max, with the assistance of Ali Payami, has definitely seen a shift toward an at least vaguely ambient/atmospheric sound. Admittedly, they don't do it as well as some of Drake's producers but they're at least capable of it. I could see it working.
