She has good performances once in awhile but often times when she's on tour she's just screaming and straining but they modify her tour vocals for TV and DVD.

I kinda agree, when she went deaf I think it caused her not to be able to control her voice that well anymore.

Same. When she tries to belt sometimes and gets pitchy her voice can get as unpleasant as a knife piercing through your ears. I love her and this isn't shade at all it's just the way it is.

Basically I would describe Ayu's vocal decline like this. Her voice was about half as good as Mariah's when she started if that and her vocal decline is 4-5x worse then Mariah's.

it's inevitable that artists need to lipsync to at least a few songs during their concert, especially a solo artist. singers aren't made of steal, their voices can't withhold 2 hours of singing/yelling/talking plus constant movement.
