Imagine Dragons Scores Second Number-One Hit.
Imagine Dragons' "Demons" rises 2-1 on RT40, becoming the band's second leader following the prior hit "It's Time," having reigned for four consecutive weeks. "Demons" is the band's follow-up single after the No. 2-peaking Radioactive. All three singles were off Imagine Dragon's debut album Night Visions.
Among all artist, Imagine Dragons is the first act to have two number-one singles from their debut album since Foster the People arrived with Pumped Up Kicks (two weeks, 2011) and Houdini (one week, 2012). Bruno Mars and Ke$ha also both achieved this feat during the Final 20 era. Mars had three number-one singles from his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans: Just The Way You Are (three weeks, 2009), Grenade (2 weeks, 2009) and The Lazy Song (two weeks, 2010). Meanwhile, Ke$ha had two number-ones from her 2010 debut album Animal: Blah Blah Blah (three weeks, 2010) and Take It Off (two weeks, 2010).
"Demons" fends off Fall Out Boy's "Young Volcanoes" from reaching the summit. "Volcanoes" rises 3-2, becoming FOB's highest peak since "What A Catch, Donnie" which peaked at No. 2 for two consecutive weeks back in 2009.
After becoming only the second song to top any of my weekly countdowns for five weeks, Justin Timberlake's Mirrors tumbles 1-3 this week. Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," (feat. T.I. and Pharell) stays at No. 4, as Mariah Carey's "#Beautiful," featuring Miguel, moves 7-5. Maroon 5's eight top ten hit "Love Somebody" peaks at No. 6 this week.
P!nk's former number-one "Just Give Me A Reason," featuring Nate Ruess, Taylor Swift's "22" and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us," featuring Ray Dalton, all fall two places to 7, 8 and 10, respectively.
Daft Punk completes the top ten with "Get Lucky," featuring Pharell Williams. "Lucky" moves 13-9 this week.
This week's highest debut belongs to Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop," which debuts at No. 33. Also debuting this week are Chris Brown's "Don't Think They Know," featuring Aaliyah, at No. 34 and Capital Cities' "Safe And Sound" at No. 39.
